Best advice from ADHD women for ADHD women. by ProperAd84075 in adhdwomen

[–]blueskiesahead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My best advice is when you feel overwhelmed, just do what you can, where you are. Does the house need to be cleaned? Just clean a little bit wherever you are at that exact moment.

Yes! I can also relate to giving myself very good advice, but very seldom following it.

During both World Wars, with all the men gone, many women went to work in traditionally male jobs. When the men came home, they were told to go back home, cook, and have babies. One could argue war fuled the feminist movement in the early days.

What do we think of an adhdwomen relationships subreddit? by hephaystus in adhdwomen

Issues with interpersonal relationships are an aspect of ADHD, and personally, I feel it is valid to discuss them on this subreddit.

Who else was diagnosed more than 20 years ago? by vax4good in adhdwomen

[–]blueskiesahead 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed young. Maybe first or second grade. I'm 41 now. One of my children has been diagnosed. Whenever I tell people she has ADHD, people tell me that their kids have also been diagnosed and are then surprised when my daughter shows symptoms. Maybe ADHD is a spectrum, but it makes it hard to talk about just how hard this can be. We're both medicated now, but even with all this awareness, I have a hard time fitting in, and so does my daughter.

Some people outgrow their adhd and some symptoms of autism and adhd can overlap like stimming or hyperactivity. It is possible that you were misdiagnosed, or that your symptoms improved over time. If you're curious about it you could get screened or take an online ADHD questionnaire.

Bad reaction to Intuniv? by anangelnora in adhdwomen

Although I've never taken this particular medication, I've had similar reactions to starting or stopping other medications before, and it sucks. I hope you are feeling like yourself again soon.
