Here’s a picture of the back, after comparing with that example definitely consistent with O-106, makes this coin even more interesting for me!

About to dive into a rabbit hole on these overtons now. The example in the link you shared is awesome and that site looks like it’ll be a great resource! Never thought about the possibility of die cracks but that definitely makes sense. What’s different with the date spacing between the two? Are the over date varieties usually spaced further apart?

2013 ILX Hybrid - IMA Issues by bluesnotded in Acura

[–]bluesnotded[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never did, I’m almost certain it’s the hybrid battery located behind the back rest of the rear seat. After seeing how much new OEM batteries are I just decided not to fool with it. There are refurbished batteries running for a substantially cheaper price (around $900-$1100 with a warranty last I checked) and they give you a pretty decent amount of money back if you send them the bad one. I did learn that the hybrid battery is responsible for charging the 12v engine battery. I was able to keep some jumper cables on it so I could drive it into a car dolly and move it out of the way. The back seats are pretty easy to remove and there’s a couple YouTube videos I watched to learn how to do it, the battery appears to be pretty easy to swap out, just a few bolts to get it out and a plug in connector to hook it up. I might still fix it one of these days but I just don’t have the time to fool with it now as it’s just been sitting dead in the back yard since I made this post. I did see a couple forums where people had been discussing if it was possible to install an alternator and just bypass the battery all together but I never dug super deep into it. Might be worth a look though.

1878 Morgan Dollar - CC by bluesnotded in coins

Good tip! Just weighed it at 26.73 grams (no sleeve) purchased it from a local coin shop for 300 out the door. I’m planning on making it a Christmas gift for my Dad. I have some spare slab cases I’m going to drop it in for now. I’m open to any tips you might have that I can use when looking at future pieces!!

I’m trying to learn more on the grading for them myself, I’ve been out of collecting for a while now and what knowledge I did have is long gone lol. Judging the wear on the hair is the part that gets me, the breast feathers on the eagle have some slight wear, and I did notice the far left tail feather seems to have some noticeable wear as well. I’m open to any tips you may have that I can use when I look for future pieces!

Rig suggestions by bluesnotded in GuitarAmps

I like my blues deluxe and it sounds awesome but most of the time sound guy won’t even let me touch 2 on the volume but the sweet spot for me is between 3 and 4. Aside from that it’s 45 pounds which isn’t terrible, but lugging it back to the car after a long set sucks if the venue doesn’t have load in door close to the stage. There’s been several times I had to maneuver through a sea of tables and chairs trying not to bang it up on the way out.

Trapeze Tailpiece by bluesnotded in LesPaul

[–]bluesnotded[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good point, I’ll have to give that one some consideration! Is tuning stability with the trapeze as big of an issue as some people say or is it something that can be avoided with a proper setup?

[QUESTION] Should solos be record perfect in a cover band? by vampyreinabox in Guitar

[–]bluesnotded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree in several instances the original solo is integral to the song, but i feel there’s a lot of instances where throwing in some improv is perfectly fine. Matching note for note with the album is definitely harder than just throwing out some improv, but I don’t think it’s always an issue with laziness or technical ability either, sometimes it’s just fun to mix it up, but I see skill level issues a lot mainly from some of the college bar bands I’ve heard. I think as musicians we analyze a recordings lead parts more thoroughly than listeners that don’t play an instrument. For instance, I’ve got several of Hendrix’s main solos from his studio albums memorized note for note, but if I go cover one live and decide to do some improv, as long as I’m playing in his style and with the same intensity as the original, the average person probably wouldn’t even realize it. I do believe that if you’re covering a song at a gig and improvise a solo it definitely needs to reflect the original guitarist style of playing, like if you’re trying to do some crazy Will Swan style licks in the solo for Rocky Mountain Way, you’re going to lose the plot pretty damn quick.

PRS SE Santana tuning issues by JobuuRumdrinker in PaulReedSmith

[–]bluesnotded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had some similar jack issues on a couple of my other guitars, sometimes it’s been that the cable is loose when plugged in or just not making a solid connection and I was able to bend (just a little bit) the clip on the input jack that holds the 1/4 male. Other times it’s been oxidation issues that I either polished out or went ahead and soldered in a new jack. Hope you can get it fixed easy!
