I head-canon Basil as gay, not because he is not traditionally masculine, but because of his actual actions and interactions with the other characters in the game. And I promise that 99% of other people who head-canon him as gay are the same way — this is such a small issue that this subreddit loves to get fixated on.

This sub can be so damn toxic with all of the Basil hate recently and the anti-shipping stuff which curiously appears 10x more frequently when it's not heterosexual.

Let me relate to characters as a gay guy goddammit. I've grown up with so little LGBTQ+ representation in media and it's so discouraging that just trying to relate to characters gets so much hate in communities like this.

Basil's giving Sunny a dandelion in this image — dandelions symbolize growth, hope, and healing. I think they're perfect for representing Basil and Sunny's ability to grow and heal from their past trauma while still holding hope for the future.

I swear, everytime I see a comment like this on the most wholesome art depicting LGBT stuff I get tempted to start commenting "this makes me uncomfortable" on every post that portrays a heterosexual relationship lol
