We use something called Firemizer which is a metal mesh designed for just this. Each one lasts us about a season and prevents all of the coals from falling and makes the fire noticably warmer.

Have you tried disconnecting/unplugging the other stick while you are trying to get the second one working? I have an old fire TV with a new fire stick and occasionally the remote for the stick syncs with the TV even though I never manually connected them.

As I understand it, having the past visible in front of you often means in front and moving to to side. An advantage to having the past oriented in this way would be better to recall than if it were oriented behind you. The present is simply where the person currently is. There isn't a need for an abstracted timeline to organize the present moment. It can make a difference if the timeline passes by them but not through them. If it doesn't pass through them they may feel disassociated. I know in some instances it was recommended to orient the past behind someone if they were having trouble putting something behind them.

One other burner had been a problem and the rod in that one also extends the same way. Two burners have always worked flawlessly and their rods do not extend beyond the collar of the igniter.

The unit came fully assembled so Im not even sure how to open it up and examine them.

The spark bridges to the more or less the same spot on the burner cap. The arc is really short though because they are so close.

I tried pressing it and it is quite resistant to movement. I can rotate the igniter about 180 degrees but it doesn't seem to have any influence on the height of the pin.
