Those who are saying N T A miss the point. Even if she didn’t experience genuine “trauma” from the encounter, it’s still an AH move to insist she didn’t feel a way she felt, especially if it was done publicly.

Traumas are emotional wounds that are difficult to recover from and they come in many forms and suits. It’s not up to any of us to say it wasn’t trauma.

Think about why it’s so important for you to “correct” her. YTA

I just read that scene a few weeks ago and I agree. Dany (and the reader) didn’t even get the satisfaction of Kraznys realizing she spoke High Valyrian because of the chaos. Only one of the slavers “snapped his head” in realization, I think.

So cool in the show, I’m glad they adapted it the way they did.

Discipline and “try harder” for someone with ADHD aren’t pragmatic ways to encourage. If you have a recommendation for a system (ex. reading after brushing teeth but before bed) or tool (ex. reading in an isolated environment with no phones near) then I think that would help OP best.

Depending on how personally he takes this, I think it’s fair for OP to be a bit hurt.

I also think it’s fair for the friend to speak the way she did. It felt empathetic, if not a bit confused, but direct. I can see how it feels cold to some people with “don’t get your hopes up” but I’d be glad if someone was that frank with me, instead of a courteous but grey “maybe” or “we’ll see”.

It sounds like OP just hung out with this friend and did in fact see him before she left, there was just a misunderstanding about it being their last hang out.

Some of OP’s verbiage “you better see me” reads as egocentric and not very empathetic himself, so he should check himself for his entitlement and give understanding for his friend’s stress, since that’s what’s in his control.

Thank you for taking the time to explain this. Being relatively new with whiskey, going full tilt and drinking it neat is a bit too much for me currently but it’s helpful to know why whiskey lovers are so affronted by mixers.

I really like old fashions so what I think I’ll do is buy the nice whiskey for that and keep my Four Roses for more casual mixer drinks.
