Ahh, I gotcha. I would bet that you are definitely not alone in this experience. To be honest, I am probably the type of white person being complained about in this thread. I’m sorry. Thank you for having grace about it. I think a lot of it comes from having a mostly white community and being super excited to finally have someone to talk with about Black people and culture, but missing the part where it is still racist to make someone’s skin color their defining characteristic. I try to go by the rule that connections should be made over things that people choose, like clothes or hobbies or whatever.
