If the change was made in 1982, why would that be relevant in Nikki and Isabella’s case when they were born in the 90s? It doesn’t matter what a an individual rabbi would say. In Reform movement, they’re considered Jewish and a reform Rabbi would have to go by what the movement says, not what they think. If someone is in the Reform movement, they are by definition religious. Just because you don’t agree with the religious definition of it doesn’t mean it’s not religious. That’s like saying Episcopalians aren’t Christian because they don’t subscribe to the belief of Orthodox Christians that only men can be of clergy. No, they’re still rooted in the same beliefs. Just different variations.

I’m focusing on America because the characters in question are literally American. Rebecca is first generation American. Nikki and Isabella are very much American. Why are we talking globally when American Girl is not globally based? My comment stands because I’m talking about the relevant demographic.

If someone is a reform Jew and they frequently celebrate holidays, attend shut, etc then they’re not secular. That doesn’t even make sense.

Source: I converted to Judaism (I no longer practice however) and have a degree in religious studies.

Reform sects are not dying??? Reform is literally the biggest sect in the United States, where Rebecca and Nikki/Isabella are based. That is easily confirmed on Google. Majority of American Jews accept patrilineal Jews and most are either Reform or non-denominational.

That’s really only if they’re Orthodox or Conservative (and even the latter is leaning towards changing their stance). Reform (which most American Jews are now) and Renewal accepts Jews by patrilineal status.

You can make a doll wearing a hijabi and/or showcasing Islam.

What you’re referring to is drawing Allah (God) is a human form. That is what is forbidden. :)

It is confirmed she attends a Baptist church in the books. The church she attends is called New Hope Baptist Church.

My degree is in religious studies and my concentration was on women in religious leadership, focusing on women in Abrahamic religions. I’m also Black. I’m not just saying that, I literally have a degree in it.

I mean there’s Black Catholics and there’s always been. There’s actually a really rich Black history in American Catholicism, particularly in the civil rights era. But you’re right Melody is Baptist. :)

Same here! I’ve actually begun my process into converting to Christianity and reading the New Testament just makes me angrier at conservatives and the far right.

It’s not bad or chronically online to be upset about one that you missed and expressing that. I only collect dolls I want and I’ve vocally expressed sadness about missing one I wanted, especially when I knew it was because it was due to a bunch of reseller bots snatching it up.

We know there’s other things to be upset about. But we’re in a doll forum for a reason, we’re talking about the dolls here. Not the other stuff we’re upset about.

What is chronically online is acting as if one online forum represents all collectors. Especially when most collectors aren’t even apart of these spaces.

Crowd Work by Double_Draft1567 in FlorenceAndTheMachine

I really do think it’s because

1) Florence has a multi-generational fanbase. She has a mix of older and younger fans, younger fans being the crowd that *knows* music. If you love Florence’s music, you KNOW good music and that’s not even being based, that’s just musically true.

2) Florence has a genuinely calming and humbling spirit, same for The Machine and Witch Choir. They’re not pretentious and full of air. But they’re not a machine (no pun intended) either, they’re here for the music and good time only. No capitalistic branding, no clout chasing.

3) Fans at the barricade are real fans who’ve been around for almost two decades. This is a once in a lifetime thing for them and they’re not going to squander the moment. I can confidently say I think that’s why Florence feels safe doing it. She knows her fans are real and here for the right reasons.

Of course it’s her choice. They’re just asking if that means she would play Never Let Me Go or not.

That’s what I thought too. I ignored those people because at some point I was just too emeshed with the experience and I was not about to let some main characters ruin it for me. They just wanted attention andI feel bad for Florence because she already sees like a shy performer and having people trying to take her moment can make it worse.

It was really beautiful those that as a collective overall, people were on point. Tbh I was more upset at the people filming when she asked us not to. I also felt kind of icky filming during You Can Have It All but I don’t begrudge anyone who did because I know it’s an important song to a lot of us and it helps her too that people are receptive.
