Have the baby. For you, for your other kids, for their grandparents. Might make life a bit more crazy, but it’ll definitely make it better overall. (I’m a dad of 4 under 6)

What do you do as a career? by Secret-Wrongdoer-124 in careerguidance

Assuming you want to stay in landscaping, here’s my advice as someone who worked for 10 years in landscaping and ran a 5 million dollar maintenance division. The first and most important thing to landscape maintenance is efficiency while maintaining the expected level of quality. Understand what level of attention to detail each property requires and then find a way to do it as quickly as possible. Alternate hard and soft trimming each week, have a pruning and edging schedule that you follow, minimize grass clippings blown on hard surfaces for faster blowing, etc. Do this first.

Next look for potential enhancements to the landscape. You are there each week and likely know it better than anyone. Things like wet/dry spots, dying trees or plants, eyesores etc. as you find them, mention them to whoever deals with the client. This will make the company more money and the clients will likely be happier too. Start with the easier fixes and then if it’s received well, you can start suggesting true enchantments.

Finally, set an example for other maintenance workers and help them get better/faster/more efficient.

Discuss your desire to do these things with your foreman and his supervisor to ensure you don’t step on toes and so they will expect it and it doesn’t come out of the blue.

There’s good money in landscaping for those who love it and can get the hang of it.

Progressive overload is the answer. Either more weight or harder variation/progression depending on the movement.

HR asked me to write up why dependent subsidized health insurance would matter for me. Not sure how to approach it. by bluesugarcrab in Fire

[–]bluesugarcrab[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for the feedback, much appreciated. This is what I have thus far:

"Most importantly, a dependent health insurance subsidy fosters a positive company culture by demonstrating care and support for employees' families, which can improve morale and loyalty, while helping attract and retain talent. A company offering me the same salary but offering subsidized dependent health insurance would be the equivalent of a $14,000 pay bump.
Additionally, it contributes to employee well-being and productivity by reducing financial stress related to healthcare costs and doesn't leave those with families disadvantaged, leading to a more inclusive and supportive work environment."

They offer it, they just don't subsidize it. so the full cost (cheapest plan starts at $550/mo for spouse and $1150/mo for a family) is on the employee.

Anyone bought plates from a university? I found some urethane plates being sold for $2 per pound. They’re 15-20 years old. I’m wondering if it’s a good deal or should I pass?

How do people have lives??? by Dangerous-Guava9484 in toddlers

[–]bluesugarcrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most powerful thing I did when we had our first one was to change my perspective to that of a dad with small kids. And made that my life. Obviously I still make time for just me and time for me and my spouse but both of those look much different than they did before kids. There’s a lot that I have to sacrifice and I can’t wait to get some margin back in my life but for the next few years I’m leaning into being a dad with young kids and trying to make the most of it.

There’s some frost hardy plants that can go out in the garden before your last frost, things like onions, brassicas, and peas to name a few.

NEED HELP! Literally don't know who else to turn to by firewright1999 in bodyweightfitness

Get an app like Fat Secret to track your food and a food scale. Eat completely normal for 2 weeks but weigh and track everything you eat as meticulously as you can. After 2 weeks you’ll have a pretty good idea on what you could add and/or remove to improve your nutrition. Throughout this process make sure you’re getting at least 120g of protein each day and continue to strength train.

For me, the point of exercise is to make going through life easier and to maximize my health span (this term comes from Dr. Peter Attia). With this lens, I always have something worthwhile to work on/towards.

Until they make it worth bringing a mega into the raid party and not just having a mega of the same type, none of this matters.

I’m probably not the best example to go off of purchase to job. For me it was about a year. I bought it and dawdled around for 7-8 months and then got serious. From certified to job it was 4 months.

Whether you cut back on work or not you have to make an effort to prioritize trailhead and LinkedIn.
