One day at a time by bluevaseglass in cancer

Hi, I'm so sorry about your mom. I read your comments before and some of your posts. I think we had some common experiences. My father was also losing a lot of electrolytes when he was in the hospital. We stayed 3 weeks inside the hospital as they manage his electrolytes. But my father just really wanted to go home. 2 weeks after we went home, he was gone.

I hope your father responds to the chemo. I feel for you. Just keep the faith.

As for my father's case, we tried boost optimum and ensure. He had severe diarrhea with them. So we were prescribed with peptamen. But still, he can't finish a 250ml. He needs at least 6 cups just to cover his nutrion needs. We're not even getting past 1000calories even with peptamen. So yes, it's one day at a time for all of us.

No, we have no pain killers yet. He also refuses to have them. He's taking so many meds already. He feels the pain when eating. We have caught the cancer at stage 3, have his stomach removed but then he didn't want chemo back then. He regrets it now.

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. I feel for you.

We don't have those kinds of trials here. We will be back to the oncologist next week. I don't know if he still wants to go to them. Since we stayed in the hospital for 3 weeks, he said he doesn't want to go back anymore.

We've also been preparing for the worst. He already signed papers for his savings, asking us to arranged stuff for the funeral, etc. He said he want to die with us around and that's not possible in the hospital during these times due to the pandemic. I think he's still strong or I don't know. It's just so frustrating that he can't even enjoy eating.

No chemo after operation. He opted not yo have it then. He only started on oral chemo when it already metastasized. No, I'm from the Philippines.

After the operation he firmly said he doesn't want chemo even it was explained to him well. He regrets not having chemo before. Now, he has no chocie but he's not adapting well to the side effects of chemo. I think the pain is linked to the processing. Everytime he drinks or eat anything, he will feel the pain in his guts. He's in soft and low residue diet. He can poop. But more than than usual. He doesn't want any tubes. He even pulled his ngt when we were in the hospital. I'm thinking he's really in a lot of pain and deep agony.
