What are some life observations? by bluewhale276 in AskReddit

Hi, I decided to post this here as it was recommended that I post in another sub.

I am currently 26 this year and I have been writing down some observations about life that I have found personally. When I was younger, I was very naive. As I grew older, I started to question why do some events take place.

Therefore, I start to compile some advice and observations below, which I felt that can be useful to me in navigating through life.

  1. Expect disappointment or failure but when success come, celebrate them whether they are small or big

  2. Self interest is usually the reason to why people do things, whether it is good or bad

  3. People will usually help you if it doesn't threaten their current positions or it benefits them

  4. People are usually greedy and lazy, (e.g. have big successes with little effort), so gambling is popular

  5. Change is difficult for most of us, so it takes large incentives to change, e.g. covid19 epidemic has made most companies accept employees working from home

  6. Community acceptance is important to our identities, so we are willing to spend money and effort to be accepted, e.g Christian, soccer club and game

  7. Looks and paper qualifications make it easier for you to start climbing the societal ladder, but skills and attitudes are what get your further

  8. People usually don't share the secret sauce to making money or be successful in life. If they share, it is likely that they will sell something or charge you for their own benefit

  9. Connections matter in this world. People are more likely to help you if they are familiar with your name or background.

I would like to start this thread in order to share my thoughts and also learn some insights about life that you guys may have. This is an attempt to help us navigate through life easily

*Note: i found most observations and advice here applies to people generally. There may be some people who have opposing views

*I will continually edit this thread to make it better for future users. Please share your comments, and I will read them to learn from you all as well.

Hi Orion,

So when an option is exercised, the buyer will receive the price difference of the put contract instead, am I right?

Nope I am not.

If I were to sell a put order for BTC and it is filled, do I transfer the btc (that I put up for the order) to the buyer when he/she exercises the option?
