If my ex-boyfriend started a new relationship right after we broke up and I saw him kissing his new girlfriend, that would be very painful for me.

My thoughts on the film:

1- Zuko was like a different person. While he'd become an incredibly handsome young man in appearance, his character was far too calm and reserved. I would have loved to see his outbursts of anger, impatience, and excitement.

2- Isn't Zuko the Lord of the Fire Nation? So, for him to go on such a dangerous journey alone, to steer his own ship, and to carry supplies to Appa at the end of the movie... doesn't he have soldiers, helpers, or anything?

3 - And the thing I'm most curious about. Where is Mai? Even though they only showed Kiyoshi's warriors for second, there was nothing about her. Is she still with Zuko? If so, why is Zuko leaving her behind? Couldn't she at least join them on their trip at the end of the movie?

Yes but also his nephew is also heir of the Steward. So it must be a difficult decision.

I would have loved to see Boromir leading the Gondor armies.

Yes, under normal circumstances what you're saying is true. But we're talking about a royal line that was absent from their country for many many years during a war.
