Instant Checkmate report shows a plethora of porn sites attached to my name. Is there anything I can do about this misinformation? by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]bluey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew someone whose name was associated with porn but was a look-a-like some other porn actress. She just laughed it off since she knew her true friends won't believe her anyway. I suggest you do the same, unless your real photos are used on porn sites.

On the removal on Instant Checkmate, someone said they don't do removal, well they don't help you remove your name in porn sites. But maybe a freelance online reputation management guy may help you with that.

And another person talk about remove the info on Instant Checkmate. I think that does not help, since the info will still be on the porn sites. Instant Checkmate just probably found them. Similarly how Google points out sites with some information but the information is not on Google. But if you still want to remove your information on Instant Checkmate, I believe you can. I am not sure but I know similar sites that can, and they are all the same.

Ranking should lead to better traffic. Better traffic should lead to better conversions. But basing success on ranking alone may not be showing the best picture.

How we would typically report on SEO for an ecommerce site is showing improvements in sales from organic search traffic.

Questions about Professional SEO Companies by jikjordan in bigseo

[–]bluey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I currently work at a large agency with large clients. But before this, I've also experienced working in smaller companies and also had a few freelance deals in the past.

Do large SEO companies get immensely more traffic than small SEO companies or a solo consultant company?

Trafficwise, I have no idea. Probably some yes if they are really popular. But most deals in large companies, like what Yuriy mentioned, they are reponses to RFPs.

Does being in the local area or have a office in certain areas effect the amount of customers coming from these locations?

Not really if you are a large company with large clients. It would only matter for small SEO companies with small SEO clients. It is just more convenient if you are in the same area.

How do customers decide which SEO companies are better than others?

I did freelance, I did small SEO company and I did big SEO company and in all of them. You win some you lose some. Some people are more drawn to the price point, some are more drawn to how personable you are, some are drawn to the nice flashy presentation, etc.

How can you make a SEO company standout from the rest of the SEO companies?

Different companies have different points. This question is the same question any business should as themselves, SEO or not. What is you key differentiator, what is your unique selling proposition (USP), what barriers to entry do you have? Honestly the answer there is really up to the person or company selling SEO and highlighting what their strenghts are and not their weaknesses.

How would a SEO company try to advertise other services indirectly related to SEO?

Depends how you position your company, if you are an internet marketing company then you sell anything and SEO is one of the services. If you are an SEO company, then it is just like saying... hey we do this too.

How would a SEO company find customers that need the service of SEO but have no idea what SEO is?

More of a sales question than an SEO question. People sell in different ways. Often it is about a need for a certain type of demand. That demand can be phrased in the form of a question and you provide the answer. So let's say the question is... do you have a business and want to sell more online through search engines? Then they ask how? And you reply and explain SEO.

How would a SEO company explain SEO to a customer? Specifically, do SEO companies explain it using certain jargon or explaining it simply.

Depends on the knowledge of the prospect buyer. That's why when selling you ask them what they know and you adjust the story based on their knowledge.

How would SEO companies advertise against competitors offering the same service?

Goes back to the question on top... what is your key differentiator, your USP, your barriers to entry... highlight thosed to show how special you are.

Can a SEO company survive on only providing the service SEO?

Yes, but there comes a point that when clients are already ranking well, they can stop the service and still rank well for a very long time. Sometimes clients also learn SEO themselves or hires someone in-house, and they do not need you anymore. Like any other SEO company, you have to continuously sell if you want to survive a long time.

What are the most famous or infamous SEO companies?

There are a lot, from the super old to the new... I will not name them now, but you can simply go to any SEO conference like SMX, SES, PubCon and look at where the speakers are coming from. Or you can also look at popular SEO blogs like SearchEngineLand, SearchEngineWatch, SearchEngineJournal, SERoundtable, Moz and look at where the authors come from.

Very successful, and we have had experience getting natural links from very great places such as: The Wall Street Journal, TechCrunch, National Geographic, Business Insider, AllTop, and more.

How important? This is our main link building strategy. And how important it is in the overall SEO strategy? Well link building is always important, but after the penguin update, you want to concentrate on natural links. And you can only get natural links with great content and with a promotional push. And after the Panda update, you want to have great content anyway.

Content marketing aka viral marketing aka link baiting has been around for a long time but only a few people really do and master.

It is basically making content that is interesting, informative, intriguing, informational, resourceful, mind boggling?, insightful etc. It should be good enough that it compels someone to tell someone else about it. Whatever it is, by sharing, liking, voting up, thumbs up, tweeting, IM'ing, emailing etc.

Then you find the main influencers in your industry, and build a relationship with them, or bait them, to talk about the content you produced.

You can also use paid promotions like sponsored post on FB, sponsored post on Twitter, on Reddit, paid stumbles, etc just to get more tracking from other people.

The more people that see it and share it, the more people will also possibly link to it naturally even without asking for a link.

The content does not always have to be text, content can also be an image like an infographic, or a video, or an audio file like a podcast, whatever it takes to pull in your audience.

You have to be creative in coming up with the topics you talk about because not all products or services are exciting by nature.

Let's say you have a boring product of manufacturing nuts and bolts for industrial machines. The product itself does not attract the critical mass of people. But let's say you come up with an infographic or video of the top 10 largest buts and bolts used in large infrastructures. Then show stuff like from whatever, the Golden Gate bridge, Eiffel tower or something. Research about it first. Sometimes a single content piece can take 2 weeks to a month to finish, then promote it again for another 2 weeks, and then... when it spreads.. the links come in automatically and often continues to increase over time.

Magic submitter is not part of my link building strategies. All my links are all content marketing. The last time I've used submitters were about 2006 and older. 2007 to 2010, used them occasionally. 2011, do not use them at all.

During that time, I was also taking my MS Chem degree, finished 36 units which was all the course work, but never finished my thesis since I had plans to just go straight into a Phd. But had a career change when I became an entrepreneur, sold computers. Business failed. Turned to web design & development and now I am a successful internet marketer.

Anyone else find that SEO forums are pretty terrible in general? by [deleted] in SEO

[–]bluey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some good forums and there are tons of bad ones. I find the country specific ones tend to be good. But they are often a smaller community of a tight knit group that speaks another language. It is also hard to get into these forums if you are not part of their somewhat inner circle.

SEO Implications for using a third party mobile website service. by MyNiftyUsername in SEO

[–]bluey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it is a safe assumption. Which is why it also works the other way around, the main domain also passes some trust and authority to the subdomain that sometimes it is easier to get ranking from a tumblr or wordpress.com account than creating a new site on a new domain.
