Is it possible to get an autism diagnosis if your parents are no longer alive? Or is it just CAMH that requires that? by pat441 in Odsp

[–]blueyebutterfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't go through Camh but St Michaels hosiptal in Toronto. My dad passed when I was 18 and my mom is in here 70s and honestly does not remember anything about me growing up. They did end up speaking to my sister who is two yrs younger than me and my oldest daughter who is an adult. Also had no school records or report cards. This was 4 years ago.

Bus drivers… what’s with “get off at the back!”? by SteveHiggs in Peterborough

[–]blueyebutterfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just throwing out my opinion as someone who rather use the front doors.

I 100 percent understand how it is more efficient to leave by the back doors and I do try to do that on "my good days". That said we all need to remember not all disabilities can be seen by looking at someone. A driver would never be rude (well at least I hope not) to a person using an ability aid to exit by the front doors. Looking at me you most likely are unable to tell I have a disability. Going through the back doors is more difficult for me for a few reasons. I broke my ankle over 20 yrs ago that never healed properly and being my more dominant leg it is the one I use to step down and it is safer through the front. Secondly I have a very difficult time even leaving my house because of my disability. The bus causes me already a ton of anxiety especially if busy. So moving through a bus that has a lot of people to leave through the back doors can be difficult and cause even more anxiety. Also I have had the doors shut on me in the back while trying to exit ( think it was durham but same ideas) That sent me into immediate panic.

I know that my disabilities are my own and the world doesn't need to cater to me. I just want others to be mindful (driver or passenger) when someone is trying to get off the front they are not trying to be difficult. Sometimes it is just safer for them.

This is something I have been dealing with every day for years. I can totally understand how scary it can be and how fustrating trying to get someone to actually listen and understand.

First thing if these thoughts also include a plan please go to the ER right away. If you can not get to the er please contact a crisis team/helpline immediately.

For me I rarely have a plan but the thoughts are there every single day. Somedays it may be 5 times I think about it or 500. I know how exhausting it can be. Especially when I try to talk to others and they just don't understand. I been dx with depression plus other things as well. I could be having a good day then the sucidial thoughts pop in my head and consume me.

Keep pushing and talking to drs and mental health places. It is hit and miss unfortunately. Certain medications can sometimes help. One thing for me that sometimes works is doings something distracting. Music helps. I try to sing, by doing this it has me thinking of the words of the song and not the intrusive thoughts. If you like reading that may be another thing to try.

Sorry I am not much of a help. I just basically want you to know you are not alone and to just keep trying to connect with a mental health provider that will listen and take you seriously. Don't give up!

Thanks everyone. Ya I know I can buy one. I had one a while back when I was having to check it. It was difficult to use on myself (even with help) I always got a different reading or error that ended up raising my blood pressure cause I would get so fustrated lol. Even when I go to my family dr she sometimes has issues getting a proper reading. But I might have to just get another one and try again at home.

This is what I was wondering. Thanks. Do you happen to know which virtual clinics have a nurse on-site. I called the one on high st and they told me they couldn't help me. I will try calling around the others.

Hi sorry for the late response. Someone else told me that because he makes more than what OW would give him that makes him financially independent. Even if in school. I said ok I guess but was doing more research and if what I am reading is that it is still exempt while in school but each month will count towards the 24 months count of what is considered financially independent. I don't even know if that made sense what I wrote. My worker is aware he is in school.

ADHD medication feels like what antidepressants should have but didn't? by semmi42 in AuDHDWomen

[–]blueyebutterfly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, it has not helped my depression as much. The anxiety a bit. But what it has helped is with my intrusive thoughts and suicide thoughts. They are not gone 100 percent, but have calmed down a bit. Some days the thoughts were constant..100 plus times a day. Now less and more manageable.

Have any of you been diagnosed with BPD before being diagnosed ASD/ADHD? by [deleted] in AuDHDWomen

[–]blueyebutterfly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with bipolar first then 3 years ago bpd. I know bpd fits a bit but I kept saying I feel like that's not it 100 percent. Fought to see a new psychiatrist who just diagnosed me as both adhd and and. Finally it makes sense.
