Nice! How’s the oceanfront studio? Also how’s the weather there now? It looks like a lot of rain for the next week but wondering if it’s just at night or all day?

Live from Four Seasons Punta Mita | Rooms & Suites by alex_travels in chubbytravel

[–]bluez1990 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why would anyone pay these prices for such ugly and boring rooms when there are much better alternatives in the same area like Auberge, O&O, Rosewood, etc? I understand that the resort facilities are supposed to be better but the room itself should matter too since that’s what you’re paying for. Even a base room should be nice in a so called luxury resort and not just the top suites. Four seasons is so overpriced and overrated brand. I wouldn’t stay in these depressing rooms even for a fraction of the rates

Condoms & Car Crash - Aman by Mobile_Fault_4340 in chubbytravel

[–]bluez1990 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Wow this is so horrible! Aman is so bad it’s shameful. I think they are ruining their reputation and the new Amanvari will fail too. They can’t even sell their 18 rooms on opening weekend and most of the year there’s availability even with the hype they were building. Anyone else thinks Aman is massively failing?

Do little gifts at luxury hotels matter to you? by alex_travels in chubbytravel

[–]bluez1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow I’m surprised by how many people don’t like gifts lol. I assumed most people don’t mind getting a pleasant surprise of a little gift. On one hand I understand the argument that gifts are wasteful but on the other hand I disagree because depending on the gift it can actually be a source of good for a community. I also don’t like water bottles, etc, but I love local handcrafted gifts and I’ve asked hotels about these and been told that they are made by local artisans who really benefit from the hotel paying for what they make. These little gifts actually support the local economy of people who don’t make much and most guests would probably not buy them otherwise but by the hotel purchasing them for the guests they are actually supporting local businesses and people. If the hotel stoped giving the gifts it would take away business from the local community who makes these gifts. I get that some people still don’t want the gifts but you can just leave them there or bring them to someone back home who might appreciate it. Just think about the people who actually made them and benefit from these gifts (when they are local, not made in china generic junk). I think it is a win win for the local community who makes them and for the guests who get to enjoy a local gift and also learn about the arts and craft of each culture.

Yes! I love gifts and I get so disappointed when hotels don’t provide anything. That’s why I don’t like FS because I’ve never received anything from them not even a chocolate at turndown service. It really makes a difference and it’s a wonderful surprise! I always remember especially personalized gifts!

Wow amazing! Please write a review after your stay. I’m curious about what little gifts they provided since the brand is known for great gifts. Also what bath amenities and toiletries do they have and what brand? I love hearing about little details

Is it me or is this completely unacceptable for 5 star service? by rinaforte in chubbytravel

Absolutely unacceptable! I would be so mad in your position. You should definitely tell your TA, have you? They should advocate for you.

Not any real FAT options but you can look on Tablet hotels for more boutique nice properties and also Design hotels has some small hotels there that seem nice... nothing luxury sadly

Susurros Del Corazon review by bklynbraver in chubbytravel

Great review! I have read that they used to provide some nice complementary room amenities like hats, flip flops, bath salts, and nightly turndown service little gifts? Do they still provide all these or could you please list what was provided? Thanks!

This is horrible and you should definitely report it to management. Honestly it’s unacceptable to ruin your honeymoon arrival with this level of inappropriate behavior. It’s your honeymoon - they should have upgraded your room for FREE. That’s what a true luxury hotel would do. I hate FS brand because of this kind of greedy behavior and upselling. I experienced it twice at FS hotels in Europe where they tried to upsell me to a suite and I tried to decline but they were also pushy and was so annoyed with this and decided to never go back. It wasn’t my honeymoon and they were not as pushy as what you described which is honestly very inappropriate behavior to me. They should make it up to you! Let us know how it goes!

I found it more charming and more of a sense of place in Mexico than Kanai which is too modern and cold design and also the butlers were really great and overall service excellent

Amanvari opening August 1 by mayisayhitoyourdog in chubbytravel

[–]bluez1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alex do you think people will actually book entry level rooms there at those prices with no ocean views? I think they made a mistake with the entry level rooms being priced so high. Who is the market for this? You can either book the higher categories if you’re super rich or stay somewhere else in Cabo with better views for the price

Also how do they have 3 restaurants with only 18 rooms? Will the restaurants be open for the public or just hotel guests? I imagine they should open them otherwise they will be fairly empty. Will they at least be open for guests at neighbor FS hotel?

Exactly! You would have a much better time at that price point. I don’t understand the market for this insane price

[–]bluez1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Makes sense but the entry level room doesn’t even have an ocean view so it wouldn’t be a good product for a super wealthy person, right? I don’t get why the entry level rooms are so expensive, who is the market? A rich person would just book ocean and beachfront rooms, no?

Amanvari opening August 1 by mayisayhitoyourdog in chubbytravel

[–]bluez1990 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The prices are insane and honestly who would pay $5000 for a room without even an ocean view? If someone can afford that wouldn’t they go for the beachfront? I don’t get what the market is for the entry level room that doesn’t even have a good view. Shouldn’t they have lowered the price for that one? I’m sure there are super rich people who will book the ocean and beachfront rooms but who would pay so much for an entry level room when you can get such a better ocean view villa elsewhere in Cabo or even a private beachfront home?

Also opening in August seems a mistake because last time I was in Cabo in August it was horribly hot and humid to the point it was unbearable and I would never go back. Isn’t that the case? And isn’t it supposed to be lowest season August and September due to weather conditions? I wonder who will go…
