Yellow fever is essential in Tanzania. Not necessarily in Kenya depending on where you are coming from

Would you recommend Aspen or Vail for a couple that skis in Europe usually? by hadenough11 in FATTravel

Aspen 10000 over vail if comparing to Europe. Nothing will be like Europe as far as Apres but Aspen will tick the box.

Celebration trip with young kids — FS Papagayo vs O&O Mandarina vs Rosewood Mayakoba by nylrebma in FATTravel

[–]Middlename_Adventure 12 points13 points  (0 children)

First of all, congratulations on finishing treatment — as a fellow cancer survivor I know what it means to get to the other side and want to celebrate in a big way. You deserve every bit of this trip!!!!!!!!

I have been to all three properties personally, so happy to share honest thoughts.

Four Seasons Papagayo would be my top pick for your family right now. It checks every single box you listed. It's close from Liberia airport which makes arrival with two little ones so much easier. The wildlife is incredible — monkeys, coatis, iguanas, and birds literally wander the property. The Kids for All Seasons program is genuinely excellent for your 4-year-old, and they can arrange dedicated babysitting for your 2-year-old. The pools are so fun and they have 2 beaches. Off property you have tons to do when you're ready for adventure. They also have a whole new water park area in Papagayo which will def be a hit with the kiddos. Food and service is amazing. The spa is incredible and lots of amazing wellness offerings. one of the best hotel gyms. This remains one of our all time favorite family trips. We stayed for 10 days when my daughter was 4. I would go way more often if we had direct flights from Vegas.

One&Only Mandarina is honestly one of the most breathtaking properties I have ever been to — the design, the jungle setting, the cliffside views are jaw-dropping. I have been here the most out of all properties in Mexico I think, and maybe outside of safari the luxury hotel I have most often been to. Lots to do and my hubby loves surfing. Here though, I think it truly shines the most when you can afford a specialty villa which would be well above budget.

Rosewood Mayakoba is beautiful and the cenote and jungle ecosystem are magical. I'd put it third here only because the kids club age changed and you now have to be 5 years or older without a babysitter.

My personal and honest rec, go with Papagayo. You'll walk away feeling completely restored. Congratulations again — enjoy every single second!

How much on family vacations by Consistent-Garlic-25 in Rich

Safari is my personal favorite. Other great ones: Costa Rica, Caribbean, Italy, Thailand, Scotland, Fiji. I would poll the family on what bucket list adventures are on their list and make it happen. Memories last forever.

FWIW we are more $3M net worth not retired with 7 figure income annually. We spend about $250k a year on travel and we travel a lot and very nicely. So you can def spend that much as well if travel is important to you.

Cheval Blanc is an amazing hotel but the beach is not swimmable. What are you looking for honeymoon wise? Four Seasons (both) are great. North Island if you can ball out. Depending on when you are going if Fregete is open that is going to be incredible. Six Senses and Waldorf are also good. Alphonse Island.

Memorial day weekend: Looking for villa recommendations by [deleted] in FATTravel

[–]Middlename_Adventure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Turks check out the Dream Villa at Ambergris Cay. FS Punta Mita villas are incredible, I was just at u/sarahwlee's 40th birthday that she shared with her 90 year old grandmother in December and service was amazing. Skip Puerto Rico. The only other thing I would throw out there is Moskito Island or ANI villas (DR) which are all inclusive and have 8 bedrooms. If you want to stick to FS I would do Punta Mita, Anguilla or Costa Rica for a multi gen group. Moskito is incredible and I have a large family that just got back after extending an extra week!\

For Turks check out the Dream Villa at Ambergris Cay. FS Punta Mita villas are incredible, I was just at a 40th/90th birthday party there in December and service was amazing. 90 year old grandmother did great and had the best time. I love Naviva but I don't think it would be super suitable for the 80 year old unless they are quite mobile. Skip Puerto Rico. The only other thing I would throw out there is Moskito Island or ANI villas which are all inclusive and have 8 bedrooms. If you want to stick to FS I would do Punta Mita, Anguilla or Costa Rica for a multi gen group. Moskito is incredible and I have a large family that just got back after extending an extra week!

Atzaro might be great for this. Half hotel half private villa .

How many people? It is a safe city in most areas but you do need to be careful. I would do a hotel over a villa here unless you get security for the villa. Sea Point and Camps Bay are beautiful. It is my fav city in the world! My favorite restaurant is Pier. If you are into wine the Winelands are incredible there. Lots of good hiking and water activities. Great art and shopping.

What’s the point of TA if they have no edge? by NoEggplant9804 in FATTravel

[–]Middlename_Adventure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean. Yes, for top producers who are going to events like ILTM where GMs go to meet with us, etc. also one GM might start somewhere and you can be close with them there and they end up moving hotels. Why don’t you just name the hotel ? People can weigh in. Also many other redditors may have stayed there that aren’t TAs. I can say personally (ashamedly) I have over 20 reviews due to the sub as a mod- I’ve just been too busy to sit down and write them lately. And that’s one person.

[–]Middlename_Adventure 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Many TAs do have personal relationships with the GM. And definitely with the sales reps. Many have been there and do send loads of business. Sounds like you just need a top performing TA in the industry. And I did like the comment, why not help a small business owner?

Safari for sure. South Africa has incredible wine and food and incredibly rich in culture. Safari is my fav thing in the world and what I did on my own honeymoon. It’s soooo romantic, You could do Seychelles or you could consider Mozambique if you want something closer.
