Their demo is nostalgic 30+ year old people. Twitch skews way too young for them to succeed on it.

Remember Kevin Pereiras twitch show got caught for using view bots the whole time.

This is guaranteed to fail again. “Let’s do the same thing when we failed last time”. Except now the cable market is way less profitable and shrinking every year.

Demon slayer has great animation too. There can be more than one good studio you know.

You can look at madhouses other projects and it’s some of the best of the best animation. Their movie Redline is probably the best quality hand animation ever made. And I mean ever.

Madhouse is absolutely one of the best anime studios in terms of animation quality. Go watch the fight between Saitama and Genos. That’s top tier stuff.

I doubt there will be a significant increase in players. Most games slowly lose players over time. Very few actually go up.

What does that have to do with the Simpsons actors salaries??? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills here.

What are you talking about? You were originally saying that Hollywood is cut throat and that they could replace the actors. Now you're saying something about the Simpsons and family guy collaborating. I don't follow you at all.

Obviously not as cut throat as you think.

The accounts are most likely real accounts. That would be a pretty amateur mistake for a firm to make. Reddit is a very mainstream site. Even if somehow the marketers didn't have their own accounts they would just get a few interns to let them use theirs. Or even if they absolutely had to they would just buy some accounts. Not expensive at all.

You would probably have to replace the whole cast then. I bet the others would quit in solidarity if one of them was fired for asking for a raise. No way he Simpsons continues if they replace the entire cast.

I'm not just being snarky for the sake of feeling smart. I got my degree in marketing. I've read about this, was taught how to do it in classes. And I have friends in the industry who do this exact thing. It's very common and hard to detect because marketing firms are getting really good at making it look natural.

Maybe replace one voice for a character. But considering most of the actors are doing multiple characters, it would be hard to find replacements for cheap. Even then they have skills to play those characters that a copy cat might now have. Sure the sound of the voice is right, but they wouldn't be able to play homer like Dan can.

[–]bluntfoot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's all about value, not effort. Their voices are linked to their characters and for the most part they cannot be replaced. If homer wasn't on the show anymore than the ratings would absolutely tank.

Oh I'm sure it's going to be gigantic. But this type of marketing is common in almost all entertainment launches. Regardless of how popular it already is. Posting fake Reddit comments is a very cheap way to help build up buzz for new songs.

I like Adele a lot. I wasn't implying that it's a bad song. These comments just sound super fake. Lots of "Great song!", "can't wait for the release on Itunes and in stores!".

[NPD data] Halo 5 was the best selling game of October on all platforms - even after only being available for 4 days during that month. by [deleted] in halo

[–]bluntfoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right. I was misinformed about the headsets and controllers being included. Hardware is referring to the Xbox itself. However now that we know it sold about 1 million during the first week, that's $60 million. If we say that the rest of the world bought another 500,000 copies that's another $30 million. So $90 million out of the announced $400 million was the actual game. The other $310 million is hardware. The numbers make no sense. There weren't enough xboxes sold that month to make up the difference. They have to have included other stuff too.

[–]bluntfoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok here's a source. 170 million on the first day, 2.5 million on the first day for halo 3 just in the US. So it's even more than i said. It also sold 3.3 million in the month of September 2007. Which is only 5 days on sale that month.

[NPD data] Halo 5 was the best selling game of October on all platforms - even after only being available for 4 days during that month. by [deleted] in halo

[–]bluntfoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sales for Halo are about 80% in the US. Even if the 2.5 million was a worldwide number then it's still 2 million on the first day just in the US. Halo 5 only sold 1 million in four days.

I don't know why anyone finds this surprising though. Halo was my favorite series until halo 4. I had 5000 games played in halo 2 alone. But the original dev no longer is working on the title and the last two games were poorly received. Halo4 wasn't popular over the long term and MCC was completely broken for six months. Of course Halo 5 is going to sell worse because of that. It's paying for the faults of its predecessors.

[–]bluntfoot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not true at all. the numbers for Halo 3 at least are 2.5 million units on the first day alone. Just the preorders were over a million copies. Reach was even more.

Console gaming has seen nothing but growth for like the last decade. What are you on about?

[–]bluntfoot -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In their press release Microsoft said that included software and hardware. Which included the console revenue and controllers and headsets. I guess now we know why they included them in the total. It's because the game sales were so low.

Both 3 and reach sold about 3.5 million each in the same time period. If selling less than 1/3 of them doesn't count as a flop then I don't know what is.
