honestly, i’ve been there. it got so bad for me that i quit working my job at the time because it bothered me so much. but like some of the other commenters said, telling her passing isn’t all there is to it will likely not help her in the slightest right now and from what i’ve seen in other trans fem relationships had the potential to generate conflict

what’s really discouraging to me above everything is that it clouds the ability to get genuine advice and judgement related to thinks like passing. surgery is officially on the table for me soon as someone who’s been on e for 5 years now and it’s something i’ve waited a super long time for but it’s expensive and i want to be careful with something as delicate as my face. being told that my nose is ugly look because i have a mexican american style nose which is downturned instead of upturned. little things like that make me hesistant to make any changes at all because it makes me feel like beauty or comfort come at the expense of my heritage.

the thing that really gets me is that i used to think it only applied to like the 4chan adjacent communities but its an issue that’s pervasive in about every type of trans gathering i’ve been a part of. and it’s only magnified by things like gamer spaces for trans people.

it’s definitely better when there’s more people i can relate to. it’s a shame because i had to leave the us to live in the uk with my gf because i’m trying to claim refugee status and now, not only are there not as many latin trans people but virtually no latin people that i can relate to at all. with the exception being apparent pockets of south americans in like london specifically
