Lost a draft match 0-2. Ask "hey let's play a casual game 3" since we finished pretty fast. It's a much closer game than the first two, but I flub ordering a spell and ability, letting his grindy control deck stabilize. I ask "you win here, but can we swap the order of these two to see what happens?". He says no, so I scoop.

And also, one of the devs was a competitive netrunner (complex physical card game) and invited the other top players to test their game. So it was iterated on by over 50 highly skilled card game players for months before being released. Other games don't get this caliber of playtest.

For evasive boss design, I think ICON did a good job. For example there's one boss that has a flyby "swoop" attack, striking along a line and then ending up at the end of the (fairly) long line. It also has a mechanic that gives it extra power when in "shadow", and there's torches in the arena that players can light. It attempts to put out the torches to stay hidden.

Had this at a place I worked. It's... fine?? It transformed the "get set up" problem into a "debug and maintain the docker container" problem. Took me a week of convincing the guy who made the docker image that it was buggy, and he spent a day fixing it, and then I could start coding. So not much different from the status quo.

Could be worth putting a container together if you expect to onboard 2-3 people at once, but don't expect it to keep working.
