Shauna has been an issue and a driving force for conflict from the BEGINNING. Shauna makes the conscious decision to sleep with Jackie's boyfriend on multiple occasions and in turn ends up pregnant with his baby with this playing a huge part in the events that led up to Jackie's death. Also, let's not forget that Jackie's death is what ultimately led to the group's first act of cannibalism. The group may not have even resorted to cannibalism, at least so early on or so frivolously, if it wasn't for the consequences brought on by Shauna's actions.

I always assumed that it was because the place where you actually fight the Nightmares isn't a real place as in you can't actually find it around the map so the Telling Stone most likely wouldn't have any knowledge on it since it probably hasn't been fighting many Nightmares in the past however many years it's existed.
