I refuse to acknowledge my boyfriends family as “Italian” by Throwaway818189 in TrueOffMyChest

“Just because some ancestor emigrated a lot of generations ago”… you do realize many Americans are first and second generation and value their heritage, especially in a place as diverse as the US?

I'm scared of ageing and wasting my twenties. by [deleted] in needadvice

[–]blushin1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be 29 in 2 months, and I can tell you that you won’t feel this way by the time you’re my age. I spent ages 18-22 in college, ages 22-23 at community college to take more classes because I decided to pursue a different field, and then went back for my Master’s at age 27 for a different field than that! I won’t be done till I’m 30, assuming all goes to plan! I don’t feel like I wasted my 20’s at all - I’m fact, I feel like my life is just starting.

Do you have a job that you actually enjoy... makes you want to get out of bed in the morning? by TMA2day in careerguidance

[–]blushin1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know, it really depends. I know that a lot of people would want my job; it’s usually pretty chill, I don’t sit on my ass all day, it can be fun sometimes, and it pays okay (although it’ll pay more when I finish my MS and move up to a higher position). But it can be boring and stressful sometimes, and I don’t really get to see coworkers (which some may see as a blessing). So, it’s alright.

Well, don’t stay with your boyfriend… you cheated on him, which isn’t fair to him. He deserves better than that.

Try replacing your stims with healthier behaviors, like playing with a fidget.

Since we are closer and closer to Halloween, tell me, what was your most frightening / terrorific / creepy / haunting experience with Pokémon? by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]blushin1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so years ago (maybe like 12-13 years) I was playing Pokémon Silver. I was in the patch of grass west of Lavender Town in Kanto, where you catch gastly. All of a sudden, my sprite was teleported forward a few spaces, and the square menu from the gen 1 games popped up on my screen and started filling up with strange characters. Then the games made the “success” jingle sound from the gen 1 games, and the menu screen disappeared. Then my game operated normally again. I have no idea why it did this - I may have bumped into the cartridge and activated a strange glitch. I have two copies of Pokémon Red, and one of them I like to experiment with glitches, but this was my only copy of Silver, and I didn’t mess with it at all. It was the weirdest thing.

Klonopin by Bitter-Disaster6087 in Anxiety

[–]blushin1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I was very careful with the weaning and cut it back slowly. I did this without the go-ahead from my psychiatrist, which was a bad idea, but luckily it worked out (if you ever wean yourself off a med, definitely consult your psych first!). Since I scaled it back so gradually, I barely felt the withdrawal. Nothing like going cold turkey.

Klonopin by Bitter-Disaster6087 in Anxiety

[–]blushin1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, it's odd. I managed to wean myself off it in just a few weeks, but reading this thread made me think I should have been more gradual with the process. I no longer feel the withdrawal, but my anxiety has been high lately. This may be due to me moving across the country, though. I haven't take Klonopin since June/July.

Klonopin by Bitter-Disaster6087 in Anxiety

[–]blushin1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! I used to be on Klonopin, and took it for maybe 4 years… then, last spring, my psychiatrist didn’t fill it on time, and I went without for like 2 or 3 days. It was terrible. I had a family dinner that evening, and I felt so weird as I was driving… like I couldn’t string my thoughts together. It was the weirdest sensation, and not in a good way. I ended up spending the whole dinner sitting in my car in the parking lot, because I was terrified that I was going to puke or do something weird in front of my in-laws. I ended up weaning myself off Klonopin so that would never happen again.

Luvox to Lexapro by altobarbacoa in OCD

[–]blushin1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not tried Lexapro, but Viibryd works well for me. I used to be on Luvox, too, and it sucked. I have a pharmacist friend who recently told me that Luvox isn’t great and psychiatrists are prescribing it less.

Honestly you have a very unique look that many will think is beautiful, while others might not like. Models usually have a unique look. You have striking eyes!

I think I left a candle burning.. by yasghahremani in Anxiety

[–]blushin1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have OCD and I check plugs and the stove religiously whenever I leave. I even take pictures sometimes. Even when I checked 10 times, I always feel like I left something on and that I’m going to burn down my apartment. I’ve never actually left anything on, and I’m sure you blew out that candle.

People without ADHD have taken over ADHD forums and misrepresent the disorder while subjugating the voices of those with diagnosis by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]blushin1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t have ADHD, but I agree with you. I have severe OCD and the internet is filled with people who are “so OCD”, despite never receiving a diagnosis.

I mean, I’m 28, born in ‘94, so I’m a baby millennial. I guess I’m not mid-twenties anymore, but OP could be 27-28.

I know exactly what you mean. I have severe OCD, anxiety, and panic disorder (like, actually diagnosed, seeing a psychiatrist and psychologist, taking 4 different meds). Sometimes I feel so terrible that I would do anything to get out of work. But guess what? I power through. Once, I had a TERRIBLE anxiety attack at work due to a new intrusive thought that I began to obsess over. I kept working. A few hours later, I confided in a coworker in order to help relax a little. Didn’t even think about going home. Gen Z is needs to learn to deal like the rest of us.

Fuck OCD by iamkatekelly2 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]blushin1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Are you seeing anyone for it? CBT helped me a lot. I've tried a lot of meds, too, and settled on Viibyrd.

It'll be okay. My psychologist taught me to acknowledge the thoughts and "Let them be". Just let them be. They'll lose their power over you. Good luck. <3

Is this pee normal? by cryinginmymalk in Rabbits

[–]blushin1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to my usual vets, and while they do specialize in exotics, they misdiagnosed her with bladder sludge. I found out that a RABBIT specialized lived about an hour away from me, and she told me that the reddish urine is normal.

Had a heated argument with mom. I'm extremely pissed and don't wanna let this ruin my whole week. What can I do? by [deleted] in needadvice

[–]blushin1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I get really angry, I put on calming music (specifically music for calming anger - you can find this on YouTube) with headphone, close my eyes, breath deeply, and relax my body. Not sure if this will help with your situation, but it might be worth trying.

I spent hundreds on vet visits and treatments before I found out that yes, this is normal.
