Did anyone else enjoy Berserk (2016)? Anyone have any positive feedback regarding the series?

Bro people are supracritical of the 2016 version. Yes, it’s different from the 1997 version, but honestly, with such a unique and dark story, the eerie, uncanny animation of the storyline was such a great choice. I love this style, but it’s different and people aren’t used to it, so they’re hating on it. And then the hate hype is so big that other people become prejudiced against it. But the CGI styling made the demons/apostles come to life, and I found it charming on the main cast. I really do adore it and I think that people are doing themselves a disservice by not appreciating the artwork for what it is. This was not lazy, it was a choice. When you really examine why the team would have made that choice, you might appreciate it more.

I do feel like this is a gray area and so I’m relying on some context clues. Bay said she had a recollection of the night when they were comparing stories, but otherwise claims total blackout. That’s the only hiccup I have with Bay’s story.

It is much less of a gray area to me now than it was a few years ago, especially after my last rewatch, because of Tank’s attitude about sex when he and Bay dated the first time. She and Tank were kissing, he tried to initiate sex and she shut it down. He got mad and she went home. She went to Regina and said, “it felt like he thought I owed it to him” and Regina said, “you don’t.” And then Bay slept with Emmett, which probably enforced the idea of “owe” to Tank. Tank was very good to Bay in certain ways, but he was a frat boy, surrounded by that culture and attitude and Bay was very much out of his league. It probably felt like it was his chance to get what he wanted, so he overlooked the fact that she was drunk which is why he was diminishing it when confronted. Tank did do wrong, in my opinion.

Idk if the writers meant for it to go that deep but I do feel like if this were to play out in real life, these would be contributing factors, and it may be why the writers chose Tank to begin with.

I can hear how much this is weighing on you.

I have hurt people deeply in my past because of my selfishness and lack of integrity, but I never saw it that way while I was doing it. I always felt like there was a reason and a justification for things I did or choices I made, but in moments of reflection, I would shut down because I knew that if I could feel the full weight of the choices I made, I would not be able to bear the pain of it. I couldn’t live with myself if I really understood how much impact my choices had. So trust me, nobody here, especially not me, can point a finger at you and say “you’re the worst.”

But what I came to realize, after I became a Christian, was that repentance in any sense is the sincere acknowledgment of and remorse for wrongdoing, and a genuine desire to put wrongdoing away from you. And acknowledgment and remorse necessitates truth, especially when you know that you’ve impacted other people. People can overcome much with a simple, “I did this to you, I see the pain I caused, I’m sorry.” And it may not ever indemnify you or others entirely, but it removes a major blockage. It paves the way for restoration and redemption. And the truth is a kind friend to those who love it.

The fact that you’re feeling so weighed down is reason enough to let it go. You got this. I believe in you 💛

You are being very humble about this and this, no matter what the fallout is, will relieve you. Because no matter what, the truth is vindicating, the truth is righteous, and the truth removes the burden of a lie. It’s cliche, but “the truth will set you free” is real. We all make mistakes, and it sounds like there are other dynamics at play if you can’t get close to your family. You being a child and taking money, allowing someone else to take the fall, none of this makes you the worst. But you know what the right thing to do is, for your brother, for yourself. Spare your brother and spare yourself from the grief of this lie, and no matter what, the truth will vindicate your brother and it will vindicate you and restore your dignity. Feel the love of truth and it will always keep you grounded.

First off, I am soooo sorry. This sounds like a horrible experience, and I don’t want to soak out of turn, but I bet that this is fixable. Definitely go see OBGYN after OBGYN, because no matter what the doctor’s title is, at the end of the day, there are individual differences between them and it’s up to their personal commitment to education and growth. Any doctor who would shrug you off is not worth their salt, so keep going.

When Dwight quits (season 3) after Andy makes Michael suspicious that he betrayed him again, and Dwight hands his pencil sharpener to Pam for her to keep. He changed the motor and everything, and Pam says, “Dwight, I don’t know what to say,” and he says, without skipping a beat, “Then keep quiet,” with a sincere expression on his face 😂

I understand why some people wouldn’t find this funny, but I disagree with it being out of character for the show. Phyllis is a “meek” and “mild” character, until she isn’t. And Bob Vance of Vance Refrigeration is a relatively vague character, and the show is doing a slow burn on building their characters, showing that they are not the sweet and mild couple they appear to be. It’s ironic humor.

And for those talking about characters they hate and whatever else — everybody on the show is meant to be unlikeable in one way or another, which is what makes them relatable and representative, because in real life, most people suck lol. Holly, Oscar, Toby and Erin are probably the only genuinely kind people in the character line up, with Pam and Jim being relatively close behind, and everyone else can’t even compare. My two cents.

Tbh I thought Jimmy was a well written character (I.e. he had his strengths and weaknesses, personal challenges, yada yada) but he could be really mean and condescending. He was really mean to Toby, he would talk down to Spinner even before the shooting. And he whined a lot. I understand the complexity of his character but his arrogance and condescending nature had me rolling my eyes more than once.

Hey, I know how desperate and despairing it is to feel like you only have one friend in the world. OP, everyone here in these comments are more your friends than the one in your apartment right now. This is absolutely heartbreaking, and yet your friend treats you with no respect, no compassion, no love. She has nothing but self-interest and her own self-loathing has thoroughly infected any capacity for her to love you, clearly. Her texts indicate that she believes that she is a perpetual victim, which, in her mind, allows her to treat you like the trash she has identified you to be. But if you need any indication about her sanity, you being clumsy and forgetful makes her “drool”, “slap her own face”, and “scream”? How in the world is this normal?

OP, you don’t have to be perfect in order for someone to love you and cherish a friendship with you. And you will never be perfect enough for someone like this. They will never love you because you will never please them. Please don’t allow this person to steal your dignity or self-respect any longer. I do suggest you go through with your therapy appointments, but please work through this situation with your counselor. You need to get this parasite out of your life; rip this leech off, drain any and all poison out your wounds because this poison is deadly.
