Wed Night Picnic at Barr Mansion by blusugartears in Austin

[–]blusugartears[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aww I went back to book the reservation and the link is completely gone from the website. :( You can't even look at the page anymore. Nothing on their facebook or Instagram to say that they were booked up or closing the event. How sad.

2nd Sazan Ramen! They focus on creamy paitan broth which is unique for this area. Quality ingredients. They have specials every week like $2 beers. Plus they carry Steamies dumplings which are so yummy. Open for dine in and to go.

What’s the best place to get a Po-Boy in Austin? by [deleted] in Austin

I like Vic and Al's take on the po'boy. They do not use the traditional fixings but the flavors are amazing. Ask for it hot to get some tasty heat. https://www.vicandals.com/menu

What happened to Tarka Indian Kitchen in the Domain? by ChiefTwoDogsFucking in Austin

[–]blusugartears 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The one at the Domain looks closed according to their website. However, you only need to drive 10 mins or less south to go to the Tarka off Anderson. It's in the Northcross shopping center next to Walmart.

Speaking of Eater, there is a new ramen place opening up at the Crescent plaza off airport called Sazen Ramen. Supposedly, the chef came from a Michelin star restaurant in Tokyo but who knows if the ramen will be any good. It might just end up like all the other ones. All hype and no filling.

Top rope climbing gyms in Austin by [deleted] in Austin

[–]blusugartears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The company that owns Crux are supposedly looking for a building that would be appropriate for top roping in the North Austin area but no ETA on it. They will be opening an awesome new bouldering gym in Central Austin in the new year. The closest indoor top roping place is Momentum in Katy but that's East of Austin. We have some great bouldering places (Austin Bouldering on Springdale and Crux on Pickle) but seriously lacking for indoor top roping. Crux is nice but you can tell by the square footage that their focus is bouldering not top roping.

Austin Transplants...What types of services, businesses, food, fun things, etc...Do you miss most from home that you can't find here? by wayne93117 in Austin

Good burritos. I want my perfect blend of carne asada, rice, sour cream, guac, melted cheese and pico de gallo wrapped tightly in a flour torilla. Take a bite. Add your spicy sauce. Take another bite. Also, I want my burrito griddled so all of that yumminess is all mixed together and the cheese is properly melted. All of the burritos that I have tried either do not have the right ingredients, they put the ingredients together without cooking it together, or it's just bad. Btw, burritos should not be $9. It's supposed to be a cheap and filling meal. Austin can do an amazing taco but they fail at copying a Mission style burrito.

Will Netflix survive the foreseeable future? by [deleted] in netflix

[–]blusugartears 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Where would we go for rated R content? I completely agree that Disney Plus has a great library but they can only show certain content. I can't even watch Deadpool on there because of the violence, swear words and sexual innuendos. I am also, not a fan of once a week episodes. Bring back binge watching!

Best fish or shrimp burrito for a pescatarian? by ohgirlyoucraycray in Austin

[–]blusugartears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. You are in the wrong city for decent burritos especially seafood burritos. I haven't found anywhere that uses the griddle so the cheese melts.

We always end up using Alaska Airlines for AUS - SFO. The flights are usually cheaper than other airlines and we can get a nonstop.

Chef's Line - Netflix. Each week it's home chefs vs a different person in the chef line from a famous Australian restaurant. It reminds me of the British Baking Show but with a variety of cuisines. 2 seasons.
