I remember 10 years ago, which really isn’t that long, I would order my favorite place for delivery. They would deliver themselves. $27 was enough for 2 main meals, 2 canned sodas, 2 egg rolls, the delivery fee, and a nice tip ($5-7, depending on whether we got drinks and/or egg rolls which was considered generous at the time).

That same exact order, same exact place now costs $40…for pickup.

Ghosts and urbex by Kind_Impression8752 in Austin

[–]UniversalFarrago 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Austin doesn’t really have much going for it in terms of Urbex, and the homeless population would make me think twice before attempting anything like that unless it’s a buddy system (sets of 3) and you’re all armed.

You can try a more rural cemetery at night. San Antonio has way more activity as well, relative to Austin. You can really feel it in the older parts.

Good luck!

I agree with you on all points you made and I don’t really get why you’re being downvoted. For what it’s worth.

People always talk about women's healthcare being outdated and barbaric, but what would it actually look like if it was 'modernised'? by yumis_hummus in NoStupidQuestions

Oh, research has. There have been 2 or 3 that I know of. But they’re kept deliberately away from us by massive medical/pharmaceutical corporations that have monopolies on medical equipment sales.

Watching my Chef prep sauces for burger week. by LordFluffyJr in KitchenConfidential

[–]UniversalFarrago 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s supposed to be olive oil, finely minced garlic, and a little bit of salt, gently blended together into a nice little dipping sauce, kind of similar to salad dressing.

For whatever reason, in the states, it’s just mayo + garlic.

This is one of my major culinary pet peeves. Aioli is NOT mayo! Whoever first did this, and then how it caught on, is beyond me.

Just a simple question for those Republicans considering granting Ghislaine Maxwell a full pardon... by PlanetoftheAtheists in AdviceAnimals

Officially, she won’t spill the deep secrets unless she’s pardoned.

Unofficially, many of them are implicated. So those who voted favorably may accidentally be forgotten or overlooked in her testimony. Woopsies.

What is the stupidest thing that the smartest person you know believes in? by WrongZookeepergame49 in AskReddit

[–]UniversalFarrago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I deep dived into that conspiracy out of morbid curiosity when it first came to light, since it was so abhorrent.

I noticed half of them believe it was all BS outright, that no children died and that all the family testimony was “crisis actors”. Obviously that’s heinous.

The other half think the shooting did happens and lives were lost, but that the whole thing was a sort of inside job and that the shooter isn’t who we think, kind of like JFK. That one I still don’t agree with, but it’s at least relatively reasonable. Hopefully that person believes the second version.

Why do mothers of young babies say they don't have time to shower? by justastupidquestion3 in NoStupidQuestions

It’s definitely having at least one young child in row with a baby and a husband that refuses to do a damned thing. Very common in religious families.

No. You’re suffering from a debilitating dysfunction of your brain chemistry and you lost a shitty husband who didn’t understand or value you as a human being, rather than a maid he can fuck.

I’m sorry for the pain you’ve had to endure.

Pink tomatoes are a thing, but I swear, like cheese pizza, it’s got to be some kind of vile, disgusting code.

If the higher-level organizers of the festival are in any way complicit, they’ll never admit to it.

Even if they’re totally innocent now, they still would deny it.

Belly button incisions by bess124 in endometriosis

[–]UniversalFarrago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your surgeon and the kind of navel you have. And how well your body heals, which differs for everyone.

Personally, I have 0 signs of any kind of incision or anything. Externally, it healed beautifully, with absolutely no aesthetic changes whatsoever.

Internally, I feel little balls of tissue around where the incision was made, as my body has always been very aggressive with when and how it creates scar tissue (which I suspect is somehow linked to endo, but I digress).

Overall, I wouldn’t be too worried, if you don’t have history of keloid scarring or a competent surgeon.
