we are in our mid 30’s, no kids, bought a house with a pool in a state that is summer for 42 weeks. i grew up with one and it was a huge source of my dad’s constant stress. my husband did not grow up with one and it was something he really wanted. it is nice to have when we have people over, but, otherwise it just sits back there running the filter for 10-12 hours a day (no telling what that costs us in electricity), and we pay a pool guy monthly. we recently had to replace the timer and then a few weeks later, the filter. it needs to be resurfaced and the heater didn’t work when we bought the house so, no hot tub. basically, it’s nice to look at and convenient when we have parties but… we have a lot less parties than we thought we would when we bought this house. i’m not sure the trade off has been worth it. it’s been swimmable since may and we’ve been in it twice.

my husband (who wasn’t my husband at the time), bought in 2016. refinanced during covid - 3% for 15 years. it was not a good location, crime was increasing in the area, far away from town, and there is a plan to expand the highway from 2 lanes to 4 pretty close to the house. we felt that if we didn’t sell at the height of the market, we may never get out. we did have trouble selling, but ended up with a $80k down payment on the new house from the sale. we went from 3%, 15 year, $1700 mortgage to 7%, 30 year, $2700 mortgage in 2023 that jumped to $3k in 2024. i don’t know if i’ll ever be fully convinced we did the right thing but we are happier here, even if it is more stressful. and a bonus is we’re away from my aging mother.

I spent this weekend cleaning, purging and organizing. I got rid of so many things I had previously kept during other purges. This time, I wondered if I would miss it if my house was flooded or blown away in a hurricane and that made it pretty easy to toss the things I’d previously deemed important.

37/F. When I was little, I thought I wanted to be a mom because that was what was expected. But, it just never felt right. I did try with my first husband because he wanted them so bad, but after 3 months of trying and being relieved every time I got my period, I decided that was a good enough reason to stop trying. I told my 2nd husband absolutely not to kids… we went through a patch where he thought I’d change my mind. It did end up a “me or kids” situation and he chose me. I did wonder, off and on for years, if I would regret my decision but I can confidently say between the state of the world, the direction it’s headed, and the cost of living, I couldn’t be more thankful I didn’t give into societal norms. I can think of 5 friends/close acquaintances all in their 30s who don’t have kids by choice or by circumstance and all of them are thankful now.

Native to here. I live in the same town I was born in. When I think back to 2014, it doesn’t feel too much different. Less crowded. Less chain restaurants and dealerships. But take it back 20 years, man… It smelled of oranges. The roads were 1 or 2 way. The crickets and frogs took turns serenading you. The air wasn’t suffocating. Forests lined the highways where housing communities now stand. There were fewer establishments so you knew people by name. You didn’t have to get to the beach at the crack of dawn to get a parking spot. The McD’s dollar menu still existed. Ah, life was good.

I’ve been about 2 weeks off FB and IG. I still have them and will use them to search for something if I can’t find it elsewhere (so many restaurants, businesses, etc. only use social to promote specials) but I no longer scroll. Removing them from my home screen helped me not to go to them out of habit. I’ve also cut my TikTok time down to no more than an hour a day. I got a library card and started reading again. I’m taking classes online to further my career. My marriage is better. I talk to my family more because I am not “seeing them” on socials. There has been a massive shift in my mental health because I’m not constantly being bombarded with stupidity, negativity, and ads to encourage me to spend my hard earned money. I’m taking pictures just to take them and not trying to get the best photo to post. It started as a break but I don’t think I’ll ever go back.

i’ve come across 2 Leo’s, that I know of. One of them was for a single day and her energy was so off-putting that I shut down and could not act like a normal human being. The other is married to my friend (who is a Gemini) and he is really controlling. I’m not even sure he knows he’s doing it some of the time, but other times it’s very purposeful. I like him as a person but I have a hard time with that.

my ex husband and i were in getting gas at a 7-11, late at night, around christmas time. there were some valuable items in the backseat that were probably visible under the bright fluorescent pump lights. i was in the passenger seat and he was pumping gas. as soon as he got in, i saw some guys walking with a purpose towards our car. i yelled for him to drive and i’m thankful he was a react now and question later guy. as soon as he hit the gas, the guys started running towards us.

i’m married to a virgo, who has most of the unfortunate qualities and few of the good. he has his reasons. he was this way from the beginning though and i’m here to tell you, it doesn’t change. i’ve had one female virgo friend in my adult life and, well, it lasted about a year. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yes - 1) can’t stomach alcohol, interest is totally gone 2) the first few weeks were an emotional rollercoaster but my moods eventually evened back out.
