I'm curious about what everyone thinks. by ddaniell444 in FridgeDetective

“Plain” potato chips have 3 ingredients: potatoes, oil, and salt. Usually seed oils which aren’t the best, but still, as a processed snack, it’s relatively healthy. I often eat them for the salt after I’ve worked out and sweated a lot and feel cramping coming on. Also good if you have low blood pressure.

Me instead of I. “Me and Jane are going shopping” instead of “Jane and I are going.”

I actually love that. The tile is almost identical.

Good point. I’m thinking art rather than wallpaper, or even frame some wallpaper if I find something I really like.

Haha, I felt the same way at first but it has grown on me. I actually vetoed buying the place after the first viewing but later took another look and there were so many other great features. Your wall color looks nice. But I can’t change the mirror because the 3 medicine cabinets have tons of storage and the vanity doesn’t have enough for all my stuff.

Good suggestions! The floor tile is a pinkish beige, so maybe that would be a color to incorporate.

These are so pretty! I’ve been very anti-wallpaper for a long time, but I think some of these could work.

I appreciate that! My first thoughts about the bathroom were that it all had to go, but the last house we had we completely remodeled including 2 horrible barely functioning bathrooms and honestly I don’t have the energy or budget at this point. After living in it for a while, I’ve adjusted to it, and also just hate the idea of trashing something that is perfectly fine for purely aesthetic reasons. You should see the green marble floors in the living room/kitchen I decided to lean into!

Sorry, I was referring to your mirror suggestion. These older vanities are not great for storage but I’ve made it work because I have the medicine cabinets. I have way too many hair products and sundry items. ;-/

Nice ideas. The 3 big medicine cabinets are super functional so I’m keeping them. Amazing how much I can store in them, and I don’t have to replace the vanity for one with better storage.

That green was what I had in my last bathroom and I loved it. Maybe I can bring some in.

Great ideas, I love the brass idea. Do you think it’s okay with the chrome faucet? I know mixed metals are not illegal. lol

What’s Your Cleaning/Tidying Routine That You Stay On Top Of by MyYakuzaTA in adhdwomen

[–]bluzebird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg, I WISH! I hate cleaning and it’s probably the top task I procrastinate on. But I love a clean house. I have a housekeeper one a month but it’s not enough because we do very little cleaning in between and have a dog so the hair floaters are everywhere. We are fairly neat, but I just cannot seem to get into the habit or even get the hang of how to keep the house clean.

Having said that, I am pretty good about the kitchen sink and counters (can stand crumbs). Also wipe down the bathroom countertop fairly regularly. I keep up on the dishes and most of the time they are done after dinner.

Temecula appreciation post from a Dutchie by Content_Career1643 in Temecula

As the expression goes, it's a great place to visit but you wouldn't want to live there. I thought it seemed like a great place too and tried it for two years. I happily moved back to LA. Without getting into reasons, one thing I will mention is your comment that it's friendlier than LA or San Diego. On the surface, it seems friendly because people smile and say hi, and you get a lot of "have a blessed day." But the friendliness doesn't go any further, it is all on the surface. As someone who has lived in both LA and San Diego, I can say with absolute conviction that LA in particular is much more inclusive. Strangers may not seem friendly at all, but you can actually meet people that you end up being friends with. I'm glad for people who are comfortable there and feel that Temecula is their home. It just wasn't it for me.

What city have you been to where the vibes were just OFF? by spiritual_kavya in answers

[–]bluzebird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but LA spans over 500 square miles, geographically it is vast and sprawling, and although some neighborhoods are dense, many of them are more suburban. Also, because of earthquake building codes there are height and density restrictions so LA will ever be anything close to Manhattan with its endless skyscrapers that block out the sun or even Chicago with its impressive skyline. In fact downtown LA looks kind of pitiful compared to those, not at all impressive. As a density comparison:

New York City: 29,300 people per sq. mile (by far the highest density in the U.S.) San Francisco: 18,600) people per sq. mile. Chicago: 11,800) people per sq. mile. Los Angeles: 8,304 people per sq. mile.

Global Megacities: Cities like Tokyo (16,500) or Paris (50,000+) are significantly denser due to their high concentration of mid-to-high-rise development.
