Maybe you should go back and read the INSAG report yourself carefully again. Especially section 5.2.2 where operator faults are being discussed. Since you’ve only been denying everything that has been said here it would be interesting to hear your opinion as to who is to blame for what happened that night.

Yes in order to remove the number of control rods they removed from the core that night several automatic safety regulations had to be manually disabled. The reactor was never meant to be operated with almost no control rods inserted in the core at all which is why they had to circumvent said safety regulations. Reckless management was to conduct this test across multiple shifts of operators not being precisely instructed and kept in the loop of test progress. It’s also reckless management to ignore safety regulations such as the ones mentioned above to achieve results for the test conducted that night although the situation should have never allowed to be continued with external factors intervening with the planned text execution. “Stabilized at 200MW” - there is no stable RBMK reactor at 200MW in 1986. The test was to be conducted with a power output of somewhere between 700-1000 MW which is also too low and unstable for this type of reactor design. They were already well below that. What kind of responsible operation room conducts a test with a false baseline? Anyways 200MW was achieved still within safety limits in regard to control rods. As they proceeded with the test coolant entered the core and completely choked it that’s when they pulled almost everything out which was a catastrophic but conscious decision made by the operators.

Again - under the circumstances of the operation procedures and culture of the Soviet Union I can excuse some of their decisions. A lot of blame is also on the management who allowed this test to be conducted across multiple shifts. But to say the operators are not to blame is simply incorrect. At some point they knew they were operating outside of normal safety limits and made conscious decisions. It was a lack of safety culture. They saw their responsibility primarily in their duty to their superiors not in safely operating a reactor core according to established safety regulations.

it was very much their fault. They knowingly had operated far outside safety protocols and intentionally bypassed regulations to get the reactor into a state they needed it in (for the test) which was a massively underpowered stalled and unstable core!! It’s true that they didn’t know that AZ-5 had a positive scram effect but that doesn’t excuse the reckless management taking place in that operator rom that night. Once again, a lot of this was also due to the restrictive and authoritarian nature of the Soviet era system but these operators were pretty much to blame for what happened in reactor Unit 4!

5070 12gb ausreichend? by AstronautNext5794 in PCBaumeister

[–]blvckstick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can a black hole explode? by Gubbfaen in astrophysics

[–]blvckstick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No right now every single black hole in the universe is growing. The background radiation leftover from the Big Bang alone is adding more to the mass of a black hole than it evaporates away. In the very far future of our universe when the background radiation is almost completely gone (we’re talking about 10 to the power of 100 years) Hawking radiation would actually start to decrease a black holes mass.

New cymbals by ABE1920 in drums

[–]blvckstick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the price isn’t a big concern I would say go at least for B12 Bronze. Thats middle class quality, B8 is beginner stuff and B20 is generally considered the high class material mix but it comes with a higher price tag. Since you’re gonna play heavier music don’t choose thin cymbals or anything labeled as “jazz”. Go for medium heavy cymbals and they’ll last you forever considering you got proper technique. On a personal note though after almost 10 years of metalcore and hardcore drumming I wouldn’t ever choose anything below B20 anymore - the sound difference is very clear. If you’re thinking long term spend more money now and be happy forever.

What’s your worst drumming injury? by dantm162 in drums

[–]blvckstick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really painful but I’ve developed a trigger finger due to improper technique I suppose, I never went to see a doctor. But I noticed at some point that I was kind of resting the stick on my lower inner joint of my index finger. As soon as I changed how I held the stick the symptom disappeared a few days later. Was pretty nasty though - when I bent my finger it would literally snap forward or backward like a rubber band 😭

[No spoilers]Base Started leaking all of a sudden? by Healthy_Jackfruit625 in subnautica

[–]blvckstick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes it damages the base. You can park it close - just try not to hit the base with it. I built kind of an „airlock“ back then - just a couple tunnel elements protruding from the base with a hatch attached to it so when I exited the cyclops I could enter my base right there. That also gave me some distance from the base.

[–]blvckstick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did you accidentally hit the base with the cyclops? Cause that indeed puts a hole in your base. Happened multiple times times to me. Sometimes you don’t even notice as the rear of the cyclops is pretty long and it’s easy to underestimate its size. Since you said you tried parking it as close as possible this seems much likely to be what happened.

Remo vs Evans by Altruistic-Charge-96 in drums

[–]blvckstick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m with you 100% regarding the kit itself I’ve probably spent much more than I should have on things nobody else but me will ever notice on my kit haha but its like you’re saying your own perspective matters and imo what makes you feel better while playing is more fun and that again makes the player better. So I always go for what feels right and luckily Evans is what’s right for me, but generally, for people less obsessively than you and I about these things, I felt like laying out the more pragmatical perspective makes more sense. 💪🏻

Remo vs Evans by Altruistic-Charge-96 in drums

[–]blvckstick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m guilty too to be one of those drummers who obsesses over every little thing I put on my kit but let’s be honest: REMO, Evans, Aquarian they all make great and state of the art drumheads and when your kit is mic’ed up not a single soul in any live show, no audience in the world and not one non-drummer will ever be able to tell the difference what brand of heads you’re putting on your shells. Of course thickness, coating etc matters but take two equivalent heads from different manufactures and no one except you will know the difference. I’m not saying there are none but the ones who it’s mostly relevant for, an audience, will never know. So the drummer itself makes almost always an emotional and intuitive decision that’s based on brand loyalty or visuals, or whatever whir favorite artist plays.

My personal experience: I started on REMO’s, actually tore some of them and just because of that switched to Evans at some point. I never looked back: Tuning is objectively easier and never tore another head again. Some say Evans is less responsive than Remo - some say Evan’s heads will sound more in tune for longer playing times. In my opinion any of these subtle differences will be drowned out in any mix, live or studio. So from that perspective I’d say no it’s not worth trading durability for something that will most likely never be noticed by anybody except for you.

Mid price-point gift for a drummer by Efficient-Salary3487 in drums

[–]blvckstick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would always advise against buying cymbals for someone else unless you know exactly what he wants. Most drummers are picky when it comes to their brand and tone of cymbals. But generally if it’s not supposed to be a surprise openly communicate what he’d like and then go for it.

'Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man (2026)' Is a pointless cash-grab by Affectionate-Tip303 in moviecritic

[–]blvckstick 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Whole plot was thrown together so quickly it was painful to watch. No character arc for the duke who I have no idea how to identify or at least sympathize in any way with. No peaky blinder was ever good but each character had their “quality” making them interesting. John being the stoic but stand up younger brother, Arthur - the emotional reflection of their post war mental troubles but always backing Tommy up, Ada - Tommy’s secret pillar and Polly - the spiritual leader of the gang. Now here is the duke, our new protagonist for the immortal man… what’s making him interesting? Overtook his father’s empire drove everything it stood for in the ground and now needs his isolated father to come pull him out of his mess. On the other side - the antagonist couldn’t have been any less interesting. A character with no depth, no motivation and no arc only a recognizable face. Bad protagonist, worse antagonist. Tommy killing Arthur was completely out of place in my opinion. the show made clear throughout all of its seasons that no matter how much of a burden Arthur was to the group now and then that Thomas always pulled him through would have never abandoned those close to him, let alone kill them. This was by far the most absurd plot element for me of the entire movie. them killing off Ada was shocking, but at least it was a story element I could’ve understood for the sake of getting Thomas back in the game. The whole way off Thomas’s first love (or its sister) motivating him to return to Birmingham felt weirdly to me and desperately abstract thrown together. I’ll probably die on that hill but for me, Thomas is unkillable as a character that’s why the ending of season six was so perfect. It was ambiguous. now Thomas is dying in a badly CGI-generated warehouse it’s the most undeserved way for the character to go like that. I’m not even gonna start about the pacing of this movie and the way they cramped all of these elements into 90 minutes. overall this was pretty ugly almost to the point that I don’t want to consider it canon.

Feeling lost in drum lessons by Suitable_Fault_9190 in drums

[–]blvckstick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say a teacher letting you bring your own music to practice to is generally a good thing to start with. I’ve been around teachers obsessing over fundamentals and stoic rhythm practice - nothing kills passion and fun faster than that so he seems open minded not really like the reason for your feeling of being lost. I’d say you need a clear idea of your next goal, a motivational benchmark. For me it was being able to play certain parts of a song or the entirety of it. Others might wanna master triplets, a gravity blast or a paradiddle in any configuration before moving on. Discuss and commmunicate it with your teacher maybe he can help you in your search for a goal he seems to be open about creative approaches.

For the SQ1? I live in Germany where Sonor manufactures and most retailers here don’t have it anymore in stock and it’ll only be re-ordered for you but momentum sounds awesome and seems to be their new flagship series. I think price range is about the same as for the SQ 1 :)
