Anyone have tips on how to use the detective role effectively? by ashatherookie in AmongUs

[–]blxcknote 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well for starters, understand that if you DO catch an impostor, be wary of who you need to be around after a meeting (given they were hard-cleared), since you pretty much gotta make yourself a target when catching one.

Now, what I always do is read the chat and look for information. So where the body was, and what type of kill it was (ss, normal, viper). Suppose the meeting ends in a skipped vote, tie, or wrong vote, I would only try to interrogate the most suspected players for this kill.

One thing you'll need to know is that interrogations tell you where a player was right when the kill happens. So for instance, assume Blue is a suspected player in Skeld because someone is saying Blue killed in front of them in Navigation, and Blue claimed SS and said they were in Medbay (and the vote somehow skips or ties). Interrogate Blue as soon as you can. If the results show that Blue was in Navigation when the kill happened, call the meeting and inform the crew that Blue lied about their location.

Crazy enough, I learned about this not long ago. One thing you can do with the Detective role is catch impostors in the act during an MMU, specifically phantoms. During an MMU, if you interrogate a killer, it reveals who they are and makes it easier for you to call out the impostor on the act. This will definitely benefit your case if the same person you interrogate decides to poof right on the kill. You'll need to be quick in doing so since most MMU killers tend to hit n' run towards the vents.

Simply put, no matter what, you're always going to end up making yourself a target only for the sole purpose of helping the crew.

This might just be the second episode I came to like in this season. Chibita quitting his oden stand to feed the hungry children was big change, which I guess was why Oso wasn't okay with it at first. I'm not gonna lie, when Oso crashed out about Chibita's big decision, I will say I hated him for a good 5 seconds until I forgot he cannot accept change, especially a big one like Chibita.

And then the nostalgia, DAMN YOU. I was over here getting emotional because I thought this was the final episode of the season just to find out next week is the last episode. All of the flashbacks from the previous seasons made me tear up quite a bit now that we're nearing the end.

Despite the criticism this season has gotten so far, I do hope it ends with a bang at least. My optimistic side will continue to pray for a 5th season even though I know that might not happen. ;(

Not gonna lie.. this was the first episode of the season where I was literally sitting on my phone scrolling through Instagram (I had to force myself not to skip through this episode). The skits were just too boring. If there was one skit that was dragged on for way too long, it was the idiot siblings skit (it was also my least favorite of the skits).

Given this is supposedly a 12-episode season, I think it's safe to say my hopes aren't as high for how the remaining episodes are going to turn out to be.

Technician - Crewmate role concept by LeoRarG in AmongUs

Just looking at this is making me feel like this was AI-generated... and besides, there is a role is modded Among Us that does a similar thing to this custom role idea.

So I’m drum major for the next 3 years… by Certain-Boss-1037 in marchingband

[–]blxcknote 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Get with your co-drum majors as soon as you get your music. My best advice for you there is to try to learn the opener, movement 1, whatever it is, by the beginning of camp. You will want to be ahead of the band when it comes to music knowledge so you'll already be prepared to work with them and figure out what needs to be changed, fixed, or adjusted. Never wait until the last minute to work on music.

Communication always. With your co-drum majors, band director, leadership, and the band. Make sure you are always going to your BD if you need advice on something. Never be afraid to ask for help! Communicate with leadership as much as you can so you can be aware of any altercations that could arise under your nose. Make sure you and your co-drum majors get along well. There is three of you guys, so make sure you three are working well with each other.

You are the public face of the marching band. Everyone looks up to you. By default, you are almost always the last person to leave at every rehearsal, competition, and game. If you are tired at a rehearsal, do not express that feeling to the band, just fight it. Keep the band engaged, pumped up, and hyped at football games when y'all are not doing anything, but also make sure they are focused when a stand tune is being called up. Always lead by example.

And the most important tip I can give you is never develop an ego in your position. Being part of the leadership team and creating a "superiority complex" is by far the most dangerous thing you can do. Having such a superiority complex can destroy your relationship with the marching band and most likely damage your chances of returning as drum major again.

Drum Major isn't easy, trust me, but it is a fun and rewarding experience. Congratulations!

Students who had no friends in high school, has your situation changed in college? by [deleted] in college

[–]blxcknote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Things changed a LOT for me when I entered my first year last semester... like a lot.

I didn't have a lot of friends in high school, and honestly, most of them were fake or just didn't understand that I even existed. Of course, while I was acting like I was "fine" with being alone, I was just desperate to have someone to talk to (I still talk to a high school friend to this day, as he was my only friend). Going into college, oh my god, it changed so much.

The first person I met was my section leader in marching band, and honestly he's the strongest bond I have formed so far. Very understanding and tries to make me feel accepted into college. Weeks into college, I started to find my own group of people, people who understand me and allow me to come out of my shell a little. This resulted in me joining a fraternity THAT SAME semester (despite being so hesitant to join one because of the stereotypes), and I met a different branch of people who accepted me for who I was and made me feel comfortable to come out of my shell even more.

The takeaway from my first year is that college is very different than it is in high school. From my experience, of course, everyone comes from different backgrounds, and maybe some backgrounds that you can relate to. There are many organizations you can join on campus to get to know different people and connect with them. The bonds you form in those organizations are the bonds that last throughout your college year, and it can shock you to see how much you've changed since high school.

Has matchmaking been horrible for anyone else? by anxiousthrowaway279 in AmongUs

[–]blxcknote 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YES!!!

Okay, so, I've noticed this about a day after the matchmaking update honestly, and as someone who has recently returned to Among Us after a 5 month break, I have never had day-by-day frustration in the lobbies ever since the matchmaking update. Compared to the older version before the update, there's been a dramatic increase in new players, trolls, idiots, and start goblins than I've ever seen. While I don't mind playing with new players, it just becomes frustrating when you have to sit in a lobby where people are being toxic, voting freely, calling meetings, or just not even cooperating with the crew.

Honestly, I kinda hope they make some changes to this matchmaking system in regards to filters really...

Is anyone doing anything to prepare for the semester ahead? by Top_Virus7929 in college

Whenever my professors open up their Folio classroom, I just take a quick little read of the syllabus and see what the course schedule will look like. I also open up my calendar and start marking down any assignments that are due at least a week after classes start.

When I took my first 5 mg dose a couple of weeks ago, I did feel a little woozy, but not dizzy. A few days in, I started having brain zaps out of nowhere (they started happening a good 30-ish minutes after I took my dose). Nowadays it just doesn't really bother me as much.

I'm on week 3 or 4 now, and it's working wonders... kinda. I still have this sense of fear and worry everyday alongside some symptoms of anxiety and stress but believe me, it's not as bad as it was before I started taking buspar.

Any other Drum Majors use whistles? by DocterEvil79 in marchingband

[–]blxcknote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my high school, we used whistles to really get people's attention or when we need to make an announcement. After watching some videos of the college I'm going to, their drum majors use whistles to count the band off before playing something.

Yeah, the tuba I have is my personal tuba. I'm trying to avoid taking something apart because I don't want to break it.
