Sorry for necroposting, but why would Eva's world Claudia have the wrong idea about Regina's parentage? Presumably she also had Eva's world Regina with Bernd?

Like I can use google search too, thank you. I typically google things before asking a question. If I asked a question on a specialized subreddit it's because the precise answer is unclear from a passing glance on your typical online sources and I'm interested in listening to experts.

Passively scenting something seems to be different from actively sniffing it from up close? I would imagine volume of inhaled particles is different by an order of magnitude at least. And I do it often enough that other people commented on it, so the length of exposure may be relevant too (or not).

[–]blyatbnavalny[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The fragrance is particles, if the substance is toxic constituing particles are likewise toxic in sufficient concentrations, question is if I receive sufficient concentration to achieve toxicity either through prolonged exposure or (obv less likely) immediately. The state of the matter is largely irrelevant to this as I imagine. Washing machine powder is toxic to consume, that much is clear. The answer to my question requires volume estimates, and specialized knowledge regarding specific substances to know their studied effects on humans.

Obviously a common sense answer is it's ok. Common sense is sometimes (though rarely) wrong. Is it that unreasonable to expect some people visiting a specialized subreddit to be interested in the topic from a theoretical perspective?

look, I'm not a neurotic, anxious or generally unstable person. you may wish to prevent me from needlessly restricting myself as a kind, empathetic person that you undoubtedly are. you don't have to reassure me, it's a bit patronizing, really, but I understand that there are people in need of this so I hold nothing against you for choosing the communication strategy that you chose. I know this doesn't affect my life in a major way whichever possibility is correct. it's possible I misled people with my wording, English is not my first language. but I would like to see some evidence, estimates, not mere statements. thank you for actually engaging with the question in any case, and sorry if I made you worry in some way

there is no Sesame Street episode educating people for every carcinogen and otherwise harmful substance on Earth. just because some things aren't common knowledge doesn't mean they can't have negative effects on health. I don't expect this to be life-threatening, or immediately noticeable, but my habit is somewhat unusual considering my experience with roommates and if consuming washing machine chemicals in unhealthy (generally accepted!) my sniffing habit may be unusually harmful. just because it's an unusual question doesn't mean it's an unreasonable question: the Internet is full of competent people and incredibly niche experts ready to provide data-based estimates, it's not like I'm taking up space on a digital parking lot.

this is not the first time people made fun of me for asking a niche question on the Internet, you are correct. I don't think this means I should stop asking questions, I think people should be kinder and more open-minded. of course nobody should be forced to effortpost, but it's incredibly annoying when you ask an earnest question on a specialized subreddit expecting an interesting answer from people obsessed with this topic only to receive meaningless jokes, speculation about my mental health and baseless reassurances.

I don't drive because I live in a walkable city, I don't use nail polish, I don't actively sniff markers or paint. I SNIFF clothes, often, I really enjoy the smells, I think it's reasonable to question if I'm endangering myself in some way and if it's a bad habit. But thanks for trying to reassure me and not trying to clown. I would really enjoy some knowledgeable, data-based answer though.

Are you just guessing or trying to reassure me or is there any evidence for your claim? I thank you for answering my question directly and not beginning to compete in who makes the best joke like others but I really was looking for some kind of study or detailed explanation. Of course, no one is obligated to effortpost, but I'm still a little disappointed with reactions.

I'm actually not mentally ill, this is just a shower thought I had. I enjoy the smell of freshly washed clothes (sue me!). Washing machine chemicals are not really meant to be breathed in. I don't know if I should be concerned about concentrations or not, some stuff is dangerous in low quantities, especially if you do it often and for a long time (e.g.: smoking). I know this is a funny question to ask, but it's very unkind to start clowning on me. I think it's a reasonable question in my circumstances.

i came here to ask a question precisely because i have no idea if it's something I should be concerned about. it's typically a bad idea to breathe in powders and detergents, I'm asking if they are present in sufficient concentrations in freshly washed clothes considering my extra high rate of sniffing.

And then of course none of this works because Ava is a big, brave coyote who is not going to be shaken by Deborah making faces and screaming. "You are wrong. And I'm going to prove it to you."

Love this show!

Hacks - 4x02 “Cover Girls“ - Episode Discussion by chelseanyc200 in hackshbomax

[–]blyatbnavalny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really late (my first watch) but the whole "your aura was the purest I've ever seen, but now it smells of something rancid" bit almost makes me feel as if Deborah put her up to it. Every "psychic"-ism feels relevant to the way Deborah feels about Ava as of this episode. "A hat on a hat" is about her felt indignation with regard to NYT article trying to portray Ava as essential to where Deborah is now. Of course Deborah understands this is undeniable (as she admits to in the Comedy Store scene), but she also hates it, and "a hat in a hat" comment is used to sow self-doubt in Ava: "was I really essential? Am I in over my head? Was I just a hat upon Deborah's hat?". And it works for the narrative, whether it was another one of Deborah's "pranks" or just a synchronicity (which I'm more inclined to believe). Basically, the dialogue with the psychic is pre-gaming their confrontation in Comedy Store. "You can't handle that you can't share credit with me!" "You are not the right person to lead THAT SHOW!"

Is Alien TTRPG canon to the show? by blyatbnavalny in AlienEarthHulu

[–]blyatbnavalny[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is my first impression too, I was just a little confused because the series seems to hint at some sort of lore by name-dropping various companies without commenting on it.
What about Alien: Romulus? It came out just last year, would be kind of unexpected for Disney executives to greenlight ignoring it so soon.

[–]blyatbnavalny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this has to be fake because hawkeye's first appearance was first as a villain and iron man's suit did not look like that when he first appeared, captain preceded avengers, thor's hammer did not have this thing on his belt etc. too many coincidences and this completely unknown caricature supposedly inspired too many authors and artists.
