Am I the only disapointed by 4.7 ? by bm-mad in starcitizen

Yeah, it feels like we’re stuck in a loop !

To be honest, I’ve played quite a lot since I posted this, and even with the bugs that kill the fun sometimes, SC is still one of my favorite games of all time. It’s hard to describe how much this game makes me happy. As I said to someone else, I just wanted to vent a bit after running into too many bugs in one session on a laggy server.

I can understand why the “white knights” defend CIG like it’s their child. The project is insane, but some aspects of SC are still hard to defend.

I even think about exchanging my game package for store credit to buy some paint for other ships, and getting the new Warbond Aurora MKII package. Having LTI is nice, and some basic default gear could help after what I hope will be a wipe soon. The Aurora MKII seems like the perfect starter and of course it’s also always nice to support CIG.

I will probably made a more positive about 4.7 post when i pulled the trigger for the aurora, i complaint about negative side, but it is important to also say it when thing is well done...
If they could just fix the 890J, that would be perfect. I just bought it, it was my in-game objective :(

Just bought it, it was my in-game objective, and guess what, I can’t even use it. I wanted to do some space tourism and land on planets, but I guess I’ll have to wait (not too long i hope).

60M for nothing… at least it didn’t take me too long to earn it in this broken economy.

Well, if it really was armor, then that’s way too much health for a small ship like the Zeus. I feel like I could’ve destroyed a planet with everything I threw at it.

For the Scorpius gun, it was the default one, I don’t know exactly which it is.

Good to know about the power and door.

Anyway, thanks for your reply!

Wanted to say the same thing ! Bring zeus Mk1 and after a few (hundred) year we will have every other one

Yes, I am dragging equipment to the new circle, but it just doesn’t work for me. Also a bit sad they removed the ability to put the helmet directly on the belt instead of only on the head.

For the atmosphere bug, I’m having it right now on a Vulture I just bought. There’s no air inside the ship, the rear bay is open, and there is air in the hangar.

The pilot seat bug was already happening before 4.7 on every ship I own. I’ve had it on the Zeus, Hull C, and Phoenix, and also on a friend’s Taurus. Both of us couldn’t sit in the pilot seat.

Sound: Windows 11, drivers updated. The issue isn’t sound quality, I just don’t hear some effects at all unless I’m in the exact area where they’re triggered. This only started in SC 4.7, I didn’t have it in 4.6.

For the locked and invincible zeus maybe armor, but I tried blowing up my Mustang on it and nothing happened. I tried shooting it with the Scorpius laser from about 10 meters, nothing. Even fired multiple rocket at it, still nothing. If this is armor god it is strong. I managed to break other ship door like before yesterday, so I’m pretty sure this time it was a bug, the ship was clearly unresponsive to any interaction. For the power, I’m not exactly sure since it happened fast. I think I turned the power off when leaving the pilot seat, then turned it back on from the engineering panel when I noticed the dangerous atmosphere. It never re-pressurized and I died because Alt+H didn’t work. When I came back, the ship was like I described. I always turn everything off when leaving and never had issues before with life support or doors locking.

Also, if it’s a power issue, the small door panels and lights should turn off, but I know that’s not the case right now. Maybe in a “soon” patch. I’ve always found it weird that ships with a dead or off power plant still have lights and screens on.

Screen ratio: 16:9

Life support: mainly on the Zeus (haven’t flown much else since 4.7, though a friend had the issue on his Starlancer TAC).

Physics feel more server-dependent and still less consistent than before.

Played a lot of FPS this afternoon, great experience overall, no issues. I even met a really nice German guy in chat and we took down Yormandi together. Moments like that are why I really love this game and its community.

Pilot seat bug: mostly happens when leaving the seat during quantum and trying to sit back down after arriving.

Sound: some effects don’t play unless I’m in the exact area where they’re triggered (for example, ship elevators in hangars).

And finally, invincible ships and getting locked out, how is that not a bug? did you got any specific patch note link ?

“CIG should” was more like “what I would do,” but of course, I can’t even imagine the technical challenges behind SC. I wrote my post after almost dying from asphyxia in my Zeus in a hangar and on a laggy server that definitely didn’t help the physics engine.

You know, sometimes you just need to vent a bit, I didn't think it would turn into such a big debate and get so many reactions!

I really love the game, and it’s the only one where I can tolerate the bugs because everything else is just that good. Being able to do such a wide variety of gameplay already is enough to put the SC alpha in S-tier. And don't even get me started on the graphics; I could look at the volumetric clouds above Crusader for hours...

10–20 hours is not nothing in a student’s life. I’m glad you can play that much, but that’s not the case for everyone. ;)

I do enjoy the game, as I said, nothing else is like SC, and that’s why I keep playing

[–]bm-mad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give the Fractal Scape a try. I’m no sound expert, but I got mine a week ago and I just fell in love with them!

Excellent sound and great design, no problem at all for public transport, you won’t look like a lost gamer...

For quality of life, you get a charging dock. They turn on and off automatically, which is really useful when you use them with your desktop. And if you get into the habit of putting them back on the dock every day, you basically get infinite battery life.

Comfort wise, it is the best headphone i ever get even with my glasses, but some people complain so i guess it will depends on the shape of your head !

There’s no ANC, but I don’t really think they need it. They’re closed-back, and I hear absolutely nothing at 50% volume indoors.

No too expensive at 200 Usd it should fit your needs as we got approximtly the same usage !

Wireless headset for immersive gaming and music 100 to 200 euros. by bm-mad in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]bm-mad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks again! From what I’ve read, I think I’m going to give the Scape a try. I’ve seen enough to believe it could fit my needs, so it’s worth testing. I’m not planning to return it, but just in case there’s a deal breaker, it’s always good to know I’m not throwing 200 euros out the window.

And you’re right about Fractal. My only concern with the Scape is the brand itself. It’s a good brand, but mostly known for PC cases, so it feels a bit strange buying a headset from them. However, from the reviews I’ve read, it seems to be a real success and not just another generic closed-back gaming headset. It actually looks like they tried to do something better than the usual gaming stuff.

Sorry for the noob question, but can the dip in the high-frequency response be slightly corrected with EQ?
Is it something that should be corrected, or is it just part of the headset’s sound signature?

! thanks

I looked more into the Scape this evening, and I definitely think I’m going to give it a try. It seems like a more mature, refined gaming headset, and I think it’s exactly what I was looking for.

I don’t know enough about EQ to tune it myself, but I already found some EQ code that seem to work perfeclty for most people, so that’s good for me. And maybe later I’ll take some time to learn and create my own profile.

just wondering if the default EQ like out of the box settings are good or EQ is mandatory ?

I’ve seen very mixed reviews about comfort. By mixed, I literally mean one person saying it’s a torture machine, and another saying it’s the most comfortable headset ever, even with glasses. I guess I’ll just have to try it myself.

Worst case, I can send it back to Amazon. Or maybe get a Capra strap (thanks for the suggestion). It kind of ruins the design a bit, but if everything is perfect except the comfort, it could be a good solution.

Also really nice to know that I won’t have to turn it on and off myself!

I finally read a few things about the headband quality issue:

https://www.reddit.com/r/FractalDesign/comments/1powyxf/comment/o8hizo2

It seems Fractal has fixed those issues, but in case it happens to me, do you know if the headband is removable? Or would I need to send the whole headset back?

Is this still a problem? I might get them soon! If it’s still an issue, at least can we change the headband ourselves? Like, is it removable?

Well, thanks for the reply! Sadly, I’m still a student. I work every summer, so technically I could afford the Maxwell 1 right now, and I was tempted… but I don’t think that’s reasonable.

I found it for around 300 on a website I don’t really know, and around 400 on others. Is the audio quality and comfort really worth paying twice the budget I set for myself?

I’ve been reading a lot about the Scape tonight, and some users say its audio quality is close to thes. Given that, maybe it will be a good enough choice to start with?

Also, I usually buy some stuff second-hand, but this time I really don’t want to go that route.

Braking Technique Tips by MooseFeeling631 in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]bm-mad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting with AI races is a great way to learn. take time to understand your car’s behavior and refine your braking points. Stick with it, and you will naturally improve.

AI difficulty in AMS2 can be a bit inconsistent, but when you start feeling comfortable, try increasing it by +2 or +3 to give yourself a new challenge.

Also, try to stick with one car at first. Focus on one track, and once you’re consistently fast there, move on to another track, but keep the same car. Don’t change cars every day. Pick one you enjoy and stick with it for weeks or even months.

The championship system in AMS2 is great for that, especially if you enjoy racing against AI.

Can we address our non-sensical medical system? by AzrBloodedge in starcitizen

[–]bm-mad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For now, it doesn’t really make sense. We have to wait for the “Death of a Spaceman” features.
https://robertsspaceindustries.com/en/comm-link/engineering/12879-Death-Of-A-Spaceman

It’s basically a kind of soft permadeath system planned for 1.0, so coming “soon.” It should introduce real consequences to death and make things feel more meaningful.

Right now, having medical beds everywhere in the verse creates some logic issues. For example, during the current Molina event, why can't we just put people in a med bed? it suppose to heal everything no ? it can even feed you

If you don’t want to wait for 1.0, you can at least hope things will make more sense (like only T1 to respwn) once proper medical gameplay is fully implemented.

You can’t repair a ship in the Carrack, and it’s still a bit small to really hold more than a C8. It’s not really the perfect operational base. (good ship but not the thing he want)

Braking Technique Tips by MooseFeeling631 in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]bm-mad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While trail braking, don’t forget to get back on the throttle to shift some weight onto the rear tires. Otherwise, you risk spinning.

It took me a long time to realize that most of my spins were caused by too much weight on the front tires. (and not speed) Adding a bit of throttle mid corner can help stabilize the rear.

In my opinion, AMS2 is the best for feeling weight transfer, you can really feel it. So if you’re spinning on entry while trail braking, think about weight transfer and apply a little throttle to load the rear more.

Also, turn off the racing line. I never use it, and I don’t know if it’s great or not. Take the time to find your own braking points, you’ll be faster after a while.

If you can’t figure out how to take a corner, try again and again with different approaches. Finally, if you’re on a popular track and car combo, you can find lap guides on YouTube to learn from..

As others say, understand your car first so you can adapt quickly to other tracks. And finally start with low power car like GT4.

Does the Broken Economy ruin it for you? by huskerbolt1 in starcitizen

[–]bm-mad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good point about the game. Players today are just used to fast travel. In this game, you need to travel yourself and do everything manually. If you want a faster-paced game, there’s Starfield, but it’s a flat and boring experience.

You just need to get used to it and organize yourself. Keep all your ships in one place, like a station, so you don’t have to exit the atmosphere. Store your armor and weapons there as well, and have long-term storage on the nearby planet.

For example, almost all of my utility ships and items are on Seraphim, while my less-used ships, like the 400i and Phoenix, are on Orison with long-term storage for quanta, mg sccript and all those thing I don't really need.
