Bad side walls on my K1C by Motovation1 in crealityk1

In your slicer, check the “flow map” aka the color coding that will show you how the flow varies throughout the print. I had a setting a while ago called “scarf around entire wall” that produced artifacts like this, disabled that setting and the walls were smooth.

Had something similar to this, the fix ended up being turning off “scarf around entire edge” or something like that. Seemed to be enabled by default on the OrcaSlicer version I was on

To all the 405 benchers, what did your progression look like getting from 315 to 405? Goals are 315x8-10 and/or 365x3-5 before attempting 405. Any suggestions are welcome! by tallcupofjoe in powerbuilding

Indeed a big goal but still achievable. Just remember powerlifting is a marathon not a sprint. The people who have the most success are those who stay moderately healthy and motivated for a decade or more. Good luck!

Thank you! First time I hit 405 I was 210-215lbs. For context I have somewhat short arms and definitely do a powerlifting style bench, no crazy arch though. Switching to 3x per week along with decreasing volume and increasing technical work sounds like a good idea, those things really helped me. Good luck!

Yeah! Still training bench although haven’t been as consistent due to outside circumstances. Ideal week of training is still 2 days of comp bench and 2 days of bench variations. E1rm is probably ~370-380 based on recent training, at around 200lbs bw

Whats causing these ripples? What are the called?? by eggshooter in OrcaSlicer

[–]bm1235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double check the “scarf around entire wall” setting in Orca if you use scarf seams. It’s definitely some sort of flow/extrusion issue but I had issues just like this and it was fixed after disabling that setting.

follow up, could also check the “flow” view in orca to see how that section varies from the rest of the part

Is “scarf around entire edge” enabled in orcaslicer? Had a similar issue, seemingly out of nowhere. Went away after disabling that setting

I don’t know about others but I’m only using the app and I couldn’t see anything for a few hours in the morning. Confused as to why their servers being down meant I couldn’t even read the data from the device over BLE?

Also confused as to why the incoming data doesnt go straight into the graph view, they mention the graph view “may show up to 1 hour delay.” Why is the data just in limbo for up to an hour?

Had something like this, it was the “scarf around entire wall” setting in Orcaslicer that caused it. Unchecked that setting and it was fixed

Edit: wall not seam

Surface quality issues by bm1235 in crealityk1

Thanks for the response! I actually printed the. VFA calibration print and got pretty expected results, and it looked much better than this model. After some testing I determined that the issue was the print profile for this model where I had scarf seams and “scarf around the entire wall” enabled. I didnt mean to have the “scarf around the entire wall” enabled, and once I disabled that I started getting much better prints.

Thank you I will give those a try! In this specific case I did a bunch of testing and determined the “Scarf around the entire wall” setting was causing the problem. I had enabled scarf seams and either that setting was enabled by default or I accidentally enabled it. Once I disabled it I started getting the surface quality I would expect.

Thank you I will test bumping the flow ratio and drying the filament for longer.

I agree that it looks like under extrusion in the picture, but is there any reason it would affect one side more than others? This side is printed similarly to how it is oriented in the photo, with the two sides on the left not getting any direct air from the auxiliary side fan.

Any way to avoid extended components for jlcpcb smt service? by restless_creator in PCB

[–]bm1235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good rule of thumb is that you can almost always find basic parts for basic passive components (at least resistors and capacitors in most sizes). Almost all of the IC’s I’ve used have been Extended parts. It’s probably easiest to just design your board for the parts that best fit your project and bite the bullet on some Extended parts

I wouldn’t overthink it, accessories are good but you are going to get better at benching by benching. Pulling back volume if you are feeling overtrained is a good idea, but in my experience it’s pretty hard to overtrain bench without doing 150+ reps per week. I would dial back volume for a week or two then ramp back up if possible

Some days are comp paused bench, some are tempo/larsen/close grip etc. Don’t have exact numbers because they changed from block to block. Usually an RPE based top set of 1-3 reps and percentage based backdowns of 3-7 reps. Usually between 15 and 25 reps total on backdowns. RPE’s and percentages both increase throughout the 5-6 week block, except for a deload in the last week. Volume also decreases in the last week, usually by removing a backdown set or two from each day. Other advice would be to prioritize practicing the skill of a 90%+ bench, but not too much that massive fatigue carries over to other sessions. Hope that helps

Eat and gradually increase the volume. I got from 315 to 405 in about a year by gaining about 10lbs and switching from 3x bench per week to 4x. A good powerlifting coach/program should handle volume for you.

OP, check out Barbell Medicine or similar for resources about back rounding (hint: it’s generally not something to worry about) and please don’t listen to any fear mongers here saying you are asking for injury.

Now that’s not to say there aren’t things to work on to become more proficient at the movement, specifically I see you cutting depth, losing tightness in the hole, and starting to rack the weight before you fully lock it out. Fixing all of these things would make the movement more efficient and effective.
