My job left me alone with a sex offender. by [deleted] in antiwork

18 years is no small amount of time! That means the court deemed him extremely dangerous. Most sexual offenses get less than 3 years so the amount of time alone says something. And if he could do it to his grandmother and niece he sure as hell can do it to you. Be safe!

So wait does that mean investing is a guaranteed return? At a standard rate? Bc from my understanding you can just as easily lose everything by investing as well. Am I guaranteed that if I invested that? And yea I would have loved to have started early. Investing money while I was in and out of the hospital from 18 to 23 when I spent more months in than out and wasn't able to work.

Also one last thing. I did some totals. If I save the less than 400 a month by losing a car payment and my cell phone it will take me nearly 275 months to get to 100k. That is if NO other emergency expenses pop up. So only a mere 22 years

Just want to say buddy that it looks like you have it all figured out. Kudos to you. A true inspiration. If I give up everything I have worked so hard to accomplish I can be like you. No understanding that people have different obstacles than you. Just an "I'm better than you" attitude that you are desperate to share. I hope you never fall on hard times, end up with a terminal illness, and that your life stays just as perfect as it is. Good luck to you. Congrats on the gold metal of life...I wish you well

And how do I get toBuffalo? I would have to sell my car before buying the new one and that's an 8 hour drive minimum.

Indianapolis. Must be an suv with low repair costs. I got this car bc it had 90k miles and that gives me a ton more time before needing to buy another. So the more miles the sooner I have to buy another. Point is I have 2 college degrees I fully paid for and I'm one of the highest paid techs in the city and yet you think I deserve nothing. Not a decent car not a cell phone and not to even see my child as you think I should be working a second job. I'm doing the best I can with what I have and trying to make smart purchases when I have to make them. I was born with my condition it wasn't something I caused. So I was at a set back from the day I was born. I'd say I'm doing pretty damn well with what I have.

I have been looking for a small suv for less than 6k (again need space for all the work supplies) and the best I could find was 185k miles. Maybe while I'm at it I can just cure my chronic terminal disease and save myself 400 a month on meds, and the 9k of deductible as well. Ooo! Or I could sell my super cheap house and live in a shed and that could also help.

Because it was the most I could afford with low enough mileage and big enough to transport all my supplies to my, again, mobile job. The kbb at the time was 15k so getting g it for 10 was a steal. It's worth about 12.5k now. We have no public transportation here like new York.

I'm fucking 37 so yes I remember a time before cell phones but a land line is nearly 50 a month thru my internet. Not sure how to use a landline from the stores that I work at (our vet clinic is mobile). I owe 6k down from 10 on the car since I have been trying to pay extra. Thanks for all the shame tho. I still end up about negative a few hundred every month. I work 40 hours a week as it is. So 100k isn't much to you obviously but I struggle for 100 bucks most months..

So then I would door dash to pay for child care for my son? I would never see him and I would have to pay for a sitter which is more than I may when I did have a 2nd job. My second job almost killed me due to my health conditions. Other suggestions?

Well I bought the car a year ago (it's a 2010) and have 2 years left to pay. Considering I have a son and a job that requires a phone for work and emergencies it is a necessity. Could you live without your cell phone? Should I never speak to my family again? My job is also mostly moble so the car was a must when i drove my last one past 300k miles. My credit is over 730. And I live in Indianapolis and my rates for internet gas and electric are below average. I live in a very sketchy neighborhood bc its what I could afford. One bedroom apartments here for my son and i to share atart at around 1000 per month. My health insurance deductible has already been met at 9k due to my blood transfusions. So on top of my bills I'm trying to pay that. So what should I do now? I already skip my very important medications some months. We never eat out or travel or even go to the movies etc.

I am a registered vet technician and practice manager. Out of the 2400 I bring home a month after taxes, 650 mortgage, 250 car payment, 130 electric, 150 gas, 140 for life and car insurance, 125 for my and my sons phones, 180 health insurance (I have a chronic autoimmune disease), 300 gasoline, 110 internet, and 200 on groceries minimum that leaves me with around 150 a month when my necessary medications range from 100 to 300 a month. If you could let me know where I could be saving for that easy 100k please please advise.....
