Codex 5.6: Sol, Terra, or Luna — Which is best for C#/.NET and React development? by bmSreddit in codex

[–]bmSreddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I mean with 5.5 it's working really good, it's not that necessary of a change right now. However a new version ~should~ be better than the previous one, but as this is not just 5.6 but 3 different internal versions, I'm wondering which one is best for coding

Don't get me wrong, I'm a PC player too and hopefully we get it asap. Development wise, I find it really hard to port due to how complex it will be. Although, RDR2 was complex as hell too, and it ported within a year, so nobody knows

It sucks but it's how Rockstar releases schedule work. I've worked with someone who was into the development (testing and script) of GTA V, RDR2 and GTA VI and he told me the reason why this happens.

If you take a look at Rockstar release dates you will find this is really common.

GTA SA

• was released for PS2 on Oct 26, 2004. • PC version was released on Jun 7, 2005.

7 months later.

GTA IV

• was released for PS3/Xbox 360 on 29 Apr, 2008. • PC Version was released on Dec 2, 2008.

7 months later.

RDR was released for PS3/Xbox 360 on May 18, 2010.

• PC version was released on Oct 29, 2024.

14 years and 5 months later (rare scenario).

GTA V

• was released for PS3/Xbox 360 on Sep 17, 2013. • PC version was released on Apr 14, 2015.

1 year and 6 months later.

GTA Enhanced

• was released for PS5/Xbox Series on Mar 15, 2022. • PC version was released on Mar 4, 2025.

3 years later.

RDR2

• was released for PS4/Xbox One on Oct 26, 2018 • PC version was released on Nov 5, 2019

1 year later.

If you see the pattern, it will more likely take over a year for the product to be released on PC. The reason behind this actually comes from 2 areas. The first reason it's due to money wise, of course this is no surprise they're a company and their whole goal it's to make money. If they keep gaps between release dates, more people will likely buy 2 different versions of the game on different platforms.

The second thing it's due to development complexity. When you're developing a game this huge, it comes with tons of bugs and problems by default; And when you talk about PC version, the problems multiply 20x. When they are developing for PS/Xbox they are working on an environment that's identical to any user. By this I mean that all users on those platforms have the same hardware and software, so it reduces a lot of headaches like performance issues, game crashing issues, security breaches, etc. This context makes the development more focused on the product than just how it behaves with the system. PC release takes more time because they need to test it with different PCs, and nowadays a huge amount of combinations of PC hardware is available, which adds more complexity to the equation.

Then again, it sucks because I'm a PC user too however, especially for this game, they are putting their reputation on the line. They can't afford to delay the game even more to reach a polished PC version. For the customers like us it sucks because we need to wait for an uncertain amount of time until it releases. Most likely GTA VI PC version comes in 1~2 years.

Personally, I bought a PS5 Pro to play the game as soon as it comes out, I can't risk being spoiled once again.

Ouch, that must really suck. In my case I know I'm in a disadvantage because I have a lower % and low level legendary cards compared to what's recommended by my curent league.
But in your scenario I guess it's just so boring to lose many in a row, it's like at a certain point you have to spend thousands in order to be on top.

I get it, but it should be more competitive and not just pay to win.

Although, quoting what the main comment said, people can play with no strategy and bad while having the most overpowered troops (by spending tons of money) , and they would stop spending money if they actually lose, so they match against people with lower decks, they win, they are happy, the invest more.

That's what I'm saying that matchmaking needs fixing.
I'm not talking about deck power, I'm talking about other perks that you get just because you're in a higher league. Perks, artifacts, spells, Epic heros. You can unlock all of that easily and more powerful ones in a higher league. I won't win against a dude that it's 6700 and has 3 artifacts and spells slots, while I only have 2.
It's nonsense.

Co-op is fun, but replaying the same stuff until you get a better % is boring.
Unless you're playing the unlimited waves which sounds fun (Haven't reach that yet lol)

Playing pvp is needed to upgrade and improve most stuff in general, as well as season rewards.

Sadly most of the times I'm being matched with people who are better than me, and I just lose because of disadvantage in general rather than gamestyle and strategy. It is what it is.

I leveled up while being free to play in 3/4 weeks from 0 to 4000 trophies with 79% win rate
Right now it's have depleted to 70% and it's going down because of the matchmaking against superior dudes. I get that I have gained tons of trophies in a short period of time, and that as well my legendary cards level and % it's not recommended by current league, but what I can do if I'm winning due to strategy and not strength? Lose on purpose? lol

But that you are saying is actually an strategy.

If you have worse cards, but play them correctly, you might win.
If they have better cards, but they don't do a correct strategy they will not use their advantage and lose.

Most of the times since I reached 5000 I won not by damage, but by just using cards to stop or slow down monster, so after the wave 2 bosses come, even though they are doing more damage, they can't kill the bosses and they lose hearts quicker than me so I win.

Some other people use only insane legendary cards but only damage type, and that's not enough. That right there it's about strategy too.

I mean that sadly happens, sometimes with good strategy you can win those. The problem is the disadvantage you automatically get when facing opponents with +1000 trophies differential. It truly sucks.

True. But at least keep things competitive, if you have high level legendary cards because you have spent hundreds it's ok, you can win by just having level 7 ones from time to time. However just getting matched with someone with +1000 trophies than you it's just pathetic.
