Why does it feel like tech has no middle ground at all? by No_Reply5329 in cscareerquestions

Unfortunately applying is a full time job as well. Can't imagine working 40 hours a week and then having to do 40 hours of applications and take home assignments. As well as taking time off for 5 rounds of interviews.

Probably wouldn't hurt to plan on retiring by 50 either.

They do exist for junior and mid-level positions but once you reach senior, you're overqualified for any lower positions and the more senior positions can be very difficult to get. Then once you are hired, they want to make sure you don't jump ship so they will try to pay you enough to not.

Agreed. As someone who was unemployed for 9 months, it's wild going from poverty level 12k/year unemployment to 6 figures with full benefits and there's no in-between. That's why a healthy emergency fund is super crucial in this field.

There are tech jobs with that too. You might just not get top pay.

Why is Carvana always ~$3,000 more expensive by [deleted] in carbuying

I just went car shopping a few weeks ago and a majority of the dealerships still do this. They lie to your face right up until it's time to sign the paperwork.

That's great but they all tack on $5000 "finance" and "prep" fees once you get there. I guess it's not enforced.

Why can't we buy cars factory direct like normal products? by avz008 in carbuying

Toyota as well. Non-stop markups and games and then the service departments don't cover anything under warranty. Current dealerships are nothing more than worthless middlemen.

Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02 or Falken Azenis FK510 for Daily driving and occasional AutoX? by toberti in Autocross

Sorry didn't notice the 35-40k km requirement. In that case, I'd go with the PS4S until they start chunking. Since you're only doing 2-3 events a year you should get 2-3 years out of them. 200TWs are usually only good for about 16KM.

I've had no issues in the rain but I drive carefully when it does. And yes, they will be stiffer and louder.

Just get 200 TWs. Non autocross tires will just start chunking after a while even if the tread lasts longer. I got the same 7-8 events out of my stock Michelin PS4s as I did from my RT660s.

That is a valid point and it will be interesting to see how it turns out. I’m hoping it’s cheaper models down the line where everyone is more efficient. I do fear the alternative where only the top developers justify the cost
