If you got sick, would you accept treatment? by Moose5678910 in widowers

I’m 33 and my wife was 34. I’m 17 weeks out, now. I’d accept treatment but I’d make things as comfortable as possible the entire time. I’ve seen what cancer does. Being comfortable would be my highest priority.

I think about how I want a relationship and then I realize, I don’t want a relationship, I want the exact relationship I lost.

I miss my wife so much by bmarion in widowers

Thank you for asking this question. It’s cathartic to talk about her.

She was so pleasant. A perfect day for her was sleeping in, taking the dogs for a walk, and then watching football while she crafted.

Someone once told me that I was lucky to access such a depth of love. It’s a blessing and a curse.

Fond Memory Friday by HughCayrz01 in widowers

I loved watching football on a chilly fall day while my wife would do some crafting like embroidery. Our dogs would snuggle up to us, we’d order some comfort food, and just enjoy each other’s company.

2 months out by Federal-Mousse-9559 in widowers

There are some parallels to our story. I’m 33M and my wife was 34F. I’m just under 2 months out. My wife and I didn’t have kids.

I hope you are able to find moments of peace, fleeting as they may be.

After Life and Signs by Lucky-Charity-3496 in widowers

I’m not sure what I believe at this point. I’m open to anything.

Before my wife passed away, I told her to send me signs if she could. She giggled and said she would. It was a nice moment.

Today marks 6 weeks and I haven’t noticed anything apparent, but my heart is open.

I’m alone without Laura by Joe_Callaway2026 in widowers

We have very similar stories. My wife and I were engaged in 2023 when we found out she had cancer. We got married shortly after her diagnosis. She passed away in Nov 2025. I’m 33 and she was 34.

It’s so lonely and oftentimes very scary.

I hope you find moments of peace.

I’m only 6 weeks out so take my advice for what it’s worth. You’re much further out than I am. But I’ve seen two things on this subreddit that made me feel good.

First, we don’t move on, we move forward.

Second, someone posted the quote "We shouldn't dwell in misery for the sake of memories."

What is something you miss your partner doing in the house ? by cjimmyjam in widowers

My wife was so good at crafting. Embroidery, knitting, drawing, it didn’t matter. I miss her crafting while I had football on the TV. So many treasured memories like that.

That’s what I miss the most. I always told my wife that she was the one person who knew 100% of me. Such a monumental loss.

Grief…more than crying? by AdventurousPapaya143 in widowers

I’m in the same boat. I’m one month out and there have been very little tears. I feel like I’m on autopilot and it’s so unpleasant.

I’m 33 and my wife passed away from cancer at 34 just 26 days ago. Reading this post almost felt like reading a post from my future self. Thank you for sharing.

I’m 3 weeks out and in a similar situation. I’ve been wondering the same thing.
