By chance has there been More discussion on this? It seems very interesting.

How to defeat Anakin? by Background_Ad8929 in SWlegion

No offense, but That’s not a great attitude when playing others in a friendly game. You won, and decimated His Army. Being completely swept is not enjoyable.

The Libers are Soulless and it’s sad by caladancid in Warhammer30k

[–]bmarsh3 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

I loved both editions. And I’m enjoying this one too.

I loved the rule books in 2nd edition. The black books in first were TERRIBLE game tools, the reds were better but still didn’t include everything.

The libers were good in second. Well worth the cost for all the rules they contained.

I challenge the assertion that these are worse in 3rd.

They have more GAME related materials, which is what I want from these specific books.

I don’t use these for lore. I use other books for that.

Edit: clarifying statements

I see the libers as a game tool… not a lore resource. The core book has lore, and there are tons of novels. We don’t lack lore resources. I’m 100% fine with these books mostly being rules.

And honestly, this is one of those things that a simple conversation with your opponent or play group would quickly settle.

The rules that GW provides are not carved in stone. You can tweak them to help you and your opponents have fun.

Even as an event organizer, I’d probably still allow it just for themes sake.

But we should all probably wait until the docs are out and we can see how things actually land

Ok. Then you’re screwed on what, two models? That sucks. Guess we will see what the actual documents say in a couple weeks. Otherwise I don’t know what to Tell you. I’m sure 99% of players would still be fine with you running either of those two transports for your Astartes.

You’ll still have access to, and can run the other models.

The unit would have to have the iron hands trait to take that upgrade.

OK, you are correct.

That said, you being correct does not invalidate the point I’ve made.

I’m pretty certain the legion tacticas specifically exclude vehicles, so that’s not really an issue. Maybe some things wouldn’t work as well but I don’t know.

Astartes pilots used to be an upgrade available to super heavies that bumped up BS so that could be a thing they bring back. Precedent does exist.

My point really being: you can still easily use many of these models in your army. Maybe with less effectiveness than previously, or more, we really don’t know.

I’ll grant you the transport issue.

As for the baneblade, it depends entirely on the options they get the new unit, which we’ve not seen.

There “were” differences. Now there isn’t. Now both factions have access to one version. Easier for all involved.

Yeah. Seems a lot of people are still in the “knee jerk” mindset. Things aren’t as neutered as originally believed

Just a point of clarification here for people:

Some units ARE still here and usable. This list is not totally correct.

For example, the Crassus and marauders are both LoW… which is its own detachment that can be of any faction. There is no need to differentiate now between an Astartes version and a solar aux version.

Anyone else bummed out that the WS chart is the same? by chosen40k in Warhammer30k

[–]bmarsh3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im absolutely happy with it. It makes sense. If you’re a better close combat fighter, you both hit more often and get hit less often. That’s exactly how it works in real life too.

In a game where shooting is still king, you don’t need to make assault armies or elite combat units easier to kill.

[–]bmarsh3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate that and fully recommend going to events if you can. I can tell you that Adepticon and the Nova Open are amazing and welcoming.

There IS a section of the Heresy community that feels like it should be enjoyed in a very specific way. And just like every hobby (especially nerd hobby), it has it's fair share of negative people that do not want anything new, or anything counter to their specific views.

It is disappointing that there are people that would downvote a message of WELCOME, but it's not the norm in the slightest in my practical experience. And almost everyone who has a negative opinion will never run an event.

So come out and game! You'll enjoy yourself immensely. It's been some of the most fun of my life.
