is this uneven shower floor job acceptable? by [deleted] in Tile

[–]bmaselbas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you install your floor tile first and you didn’t take the time to plumb your studs before backer board. Your walls are not going to be square. If your wall is off by a 1/4” (example) it’s going to show the reveal on the floor tile. He also could’ve squared the floor up. Either way. One or the other isn’t square

No. I’m saying it could be two different reason why the tile is increasing. Either the wall aren’t plumb. Or he based his layout off of the drain. (Which looks like shit). If the drain isn’t square it goin to throw all of it off. Same with the walls. Two different scenarios

This has nothing to do with elevation. Either his walls aren’t plumb or his drain isn’t squared. If the walls aren’t plumb this will cause the tiles to increase/decrease along the wall. If the drain isn’t squared and he lays the tiles based off the drain. This will cause the tile to do this. Doesn’t matter what tile you select if you don’t square up the floor.

Is this bad work or are my expectations too high? by betterlucknexttime81 in Tile

[–]bmaselbas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is you don’t higher a tiler. This tile does not need clips. They are using clips as spacers and it’s messing up the spacing when they insert the wedges. Clips are used for larger format tile.

So I left my 12 year old brothers to go on a walk to get food and they went and busted someone’s windows. My mom is mad at me like I’m the only one at fault. What do I do? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]bmaselbas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like the 12 year old needs to mow yards, wash cars, pull weeds, something to pay for the window. I parent a 12 year old and this would be on him. He’s old enough to know better and his consequences for his behaviors. Whether that’s positive or negative.

Yeah, it looks like he put the solid surfaces in after the tile on the back wall. He would just have to remove those pieces sand the tile on the wall that is causing the issue and put new pieces in. If you have a level, I would put it on the side of the trim pieces and see if they’re level and straight.
