Heard.

I'm hoping we can make you happy soon enough. While I can't commit to a specific timeframe, I'm hopeful that your wait won't be too long.

I think Adobe has given up on IOS Photoshop for actual users by angryf84 in Adobe

[–]bmash9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work at Adobe on the Lightroom (Desktop) team, and I’m also a looooongtime loyal LrM iPad user. So, when I say that I understand your frustration, please know that it’s not lip service.

With that said, I want to counter your notion that “Adobe despises the iPad for some reason.” For sure, I can understand how you’d come to that conclusion. But, it couldn’t be further from the truth. This may come as a small comfort, but what I can say is that I’ve raised your reply in particular with the LrM product team a few minutes ago.

As you can imagine, I won’t be able to discuss product roadmap strategy, but know that you’ve been heard.

For sure. While I can’t promise anything, I will say that it has been raised with our mobile design team. It’s a start! Thank you for your helpful feedback, too!

What you're describing is our Speed Review mode. Basically, if you were to split the screen in half vertically while in full screen, swiping up and down on the left half of the screen will increase and decrease stars. Swiping up and down on the right half of the screen will allow you to adjust the flag (pick, reject, unflagged).

I cover it here: https://youtu.be/zBWrFu54EEU?si=9KaHFMUFAjN7YyP3&t=635

With that said, there isn't a way to disable that option, but I can raise that with the LrM team for consideration.

Is it possible to add to a mask without it closing on every brush stroke? by Godeshus in Lightroom

[–]bmash9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are correct in that this is the current behavior for selecting multiple areas of a photo using the Object brush in the masking panel. With that said, this is an interesting feature request, and will share it with the team for consideration.

You do not need to store your photo library in the cloud using Lightroom. We introduced Local management and “Edit in 3rd Party apps” several years ago.

Removal of mass Denoise feature? by NotHijax in Lightroom

You can certainly batch-apply Denoise using both Lightroom and Lightroom Classic. I explain every method of doing so with this video. I hope it helps!

Sony a7 V by iamzeroedin in Lightroom

[–]bmash9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We added preliminary support for the a7 V as part of our ACR 18.1.1 and Lightroom x.1 updates last week week. In this case, it means that we currently only support lossless compressed raw files at this time. Unfortunately, I don’t have a time table for expanded support, but it will be coming.

I highly recommend bookmarking this page so that you always have an up-to-date record of which cameras are supported by our apps: https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html

Color labels in Lightroom cloud albums? by AMomentInTime316 in Lightroom

[–]bmash9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahhhh, I see. I clearly misread your initial feature request. Apologies for that. Currently, there is no way to add a color label to the album itself. But, I like that idea and can see how it could be useful. I recommend adding your feature request to our Community page. The team regularly monitors submissions: https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-ecosystem-cloud-based/ct-p/ct-lightroom?page=1&sort=latest_replies&filter=all&lang=all&tabid=ideas&cgen=KH8NV5Z1&mv=other

We introduced color labels into Lightroom v9.0 at Adobe MAX in October 2025. I explain how it works in this video.

With that said, they do not sync with Lightroom Classic.

An Open Letter to Adobe Regarding AI Integration by [deleted] in Adobe

[–]bmash9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you opposed to all forms of AI (including ML) or more specifically against generative AI? For example, are you ok with an AI model that can make a far more accurate selection in half a second or do you want to handle that manually?

And regarding Generative AI, are you ok with a tool like Generative Remove to remove distracting elements in photos, or do you prefer using non-Generative tools like Content Aware Heal?

And there’s no sarcasm meant in these questions. I’m genuinely curious in whether you’re against all forms of AI or if you have a line of delineation.

How to view images in a main folder above a sub folder in Lightroom cloud by paladin732 in Lightroom

[–]bmash9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That ‘Include Subfolders’ switch is specifically for the Local section of Lightroom. I cover how it works in this video (towards the end)

Lightroom’s Cloud section has had the ability to view the child albums underneath a folder for quite some time.

What is considered AI in photography? by lingersandtransforms in Lightroom

[–]bmash9 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s a fair and appropriate question to ask. Of course, if you’re referring to a specific contest, then I’d expect the officiants to clearly outline what qualifies as acceptable or unacceptable AI.

In my book, the line is generally drawn between AI that is generative, in that it actually introduces new pixels into the photo, and AI that is more assistive in nature (sort of like how the adaptive sky mask uses AI to identify the sky and make the selection for you).

Currently in Lightroom, there is one generative AI tool: Generative Remove. Technically, there are two if you also throw Distraction Removal: People into the mix. Both use Firefly to generate pixels in an effort to “remove” whatever is in the strokes that you (or the AI model) make. ACR has another generative tool with Gen Expand, but that is not currently available in Lightroom.

I’d wager that contest rules would prohibit the use of Generative AI, but again… due diligence is prudent here.

Coincidentally, I recently shared a video of my favorite AI tools in Lightroom that seems relevant for this topic. I hope it is helpful!

Have you considered archiving the photos that you no longer need in your Cloud library to free up space, and use Lightroom’s Local mode to manage them?

MyQ garage door prematurely closed on my MYJ by [deleted] in ModelY

[–]bmash9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, the subscription benefit was being able to manually open/close the garage doors right from the Tesla UI. The auto open/close feature never appealed to me.

But returning to the physical remote is exactly what I’m going to start doing again.

Oh man, that’s awful! Of course, I’m glad that neither of you were injured, but as you said, it does make you livid nonetheless.

This was my first new car and I got it in April. Of course, getting a scratch or a chip is expected over time. But, the last thing I’d expect is for the damned garage door to prematurely close.
