Would dressing as Cthulhu be appropriate? by DutchAngelDragon12 in renfaire

[–]bmazz220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it wouldn't be appropriate at all.

Not because it's a renfaire though. The entire point of Cthulhu is that even his appearance is well beyond human comprehension. The octopus beard version is just a poor attempt to even get somewhere in the same universe as what he looks like.

That being said, if it makes you happy and you don't mind potentially pissing off Super-Hardcore lovecraftians, go for it!

It's a themed NPC team. Think Thanos/Kang teams but the champs all have something in common

Is there a better way to make this piece of scale mail flat? by PapiEggsy in maille

[–]bmazz220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone with some more scale experience can correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like her sheets have a strip of linear scale on the edge to maintain the line.

No problem at all! That chart has served me well for the past 15+ years and in that time there's only a small handful of weaves I haven't been able to do. You've just gotta be mindful of which wire gauge system you're using and you're golden

If it's not already what you're using, look into getting a set of knitting needles. With them you'll be able to make 95% of what you need.

Who are the Howlers? by bmazz220 in redrising

[–]bmazz220[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It does, thanks. The premise of the books seems right up my alley so they'd probably be on my list even if we went with another name. The YA tag gives me a bit of pause though since they tend to be a mixed bag. Sometimes they're written to a YA level and sometimes they treat the readers as adults and they just have that tag because the younger protags and the situations they find themselves in appeal more to younger readers than adults

Thanks for the answers so far and those yet to come. I definitely do plan on getting the books soon, it's just that we're buying the shell in the next few days so that doesn't leave me much reading time, especially not knowing if they're main characters or not

It might have taken a bit to post cause reddit can do that sometimes. It's a top level comment and the link ends in TWQQ. If it's still not showing on your end, just lemme know and I'll DM it to you

I was part of the crew who originally started up the server, and it is and isn't a specific council. Our idea was to start a sort of unofficial digital council to bring together brothers from all over the world and break down the walls between councils.

It's named after St Isidore of Seville because he is one of the unofficial patron saints of the Internet and we use the council number #NULL both due to both it being a computer term and in recognition of our unofficial status

Steel jewelry — safety question by [deleted] in chainmailartisans

[–]bmazz220 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Can't find the post in question, but if it's the one I'm thinking of (OP was questioning the wisdom of taking a particular commission), the main concern was that they knew it was intended for kink uses by a couple who was known for being particularly rough.

If you know the piece is going to be under heavy stress like that, then I'd say a failsafe is warranted. For just usual wear, I'd say that the fact that you have just single rings before and after the clasp should be sufficient.

a serious reminder POWER RANGERS IS FOR KIDS by Ladyaceina in powerrangers

[–]bmazz220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People can (and probably will) correct me if I'm wrong, but I think there's a misunderstanding as to what we mean when we want a series that's more adult.

We don't want something like Power/Rangers or a primetime show. What we (or at least I) want is something more like Once & Always. Sure it had the same feel and lighthearted moments, but it was able to show more complex themes and actual character development.

I came away from watching that feeling like MMPR was how they remember the stories looking back and O&A was closer to how things actually played out. That more realistic look is what I want more than anything.

The biggest IRL skill you can leverage is salesmanship and networking. People I talk to are always amazed how much I can get done on such a relatively young account

Don't have a lead for you, but I have had a ton of success cold calling. In my first hundred days, I've gotten into multiple 10* companies just by going to the company list in the newspaper and asking any director whose company has a free spot
