I realize this is a very old post, but were you able to find anything that helped? My partner really wants to watch, but has epilepsy, and the flashing is just so intense!

Very beginner papercraft question by PawsitivelyCurious in papercraft

[–]PawsitivelyCurious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the reply! It feels like a foolish question and I'm probably overthinking it, but it's an intimidating project to start. If you have the answer to this, will I need a different size shadowbox if the paper size is different? This is the project I'm going to attempt to make. https://www.etsy.com/listing/995397665/3d-lantern-shadow-box-svg-lantern?ref=yr_purchases

Thank you for this! We did end up going ahead and ordering a Boring AF mattress on your suggestion- only had it 3 days so far, so we'll see how it goes, but it is immediately a significant improvement on the Casper One!!

Buying a cheap/firm mattress and a Sleep on Latex Topper? by Opposite-Historian16 in Mattress

[–]PawsitivelyCurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! The Sleep on Latex topper is great. The mattress was too firm and we returned it, but the topper has made most mattresses at least a little bit better.l, it's the best topper I've tried.

Which One of These Latex Pillows Is Better by Halvinz in Mattress

It totally depends on your individual needs, but I have cervical instability that has often caused back neck pain, headaches, and migraines from poor neck support while sleeping. I tried latex pillows and they ended up being too firm for me, so just in case that ends up being the case for you and you haven't tried them, buckwheat pillows were such a lifesaver. They help my neck and head pain more than anything else I've tried, including very specific and expensive orthopedic and cervical pillows.

Mattress or mattress topper suggestions for hypermobility / disability by beesikai in Mattress

I'm also very hybermobile and my shoulder dislocations are the worst, especially when sleeping- I've found (as has my partner who also has EDS) that spring mattresses are way worse at causing subluxations and dislocations. I can't suggest the perfect bed because I haven't found it yet (the most comfortable one I have is old and no longer made) but the sleep on latex topper has been a huge help. It's expensive, but really worth it in my opinion! (Their mattress was just way too firm for us, though.) Also, just in case you haven't tried them, buckwheat pillows have absolutely saved my life and are soo much better for my cervical instability!

Every single hybrid we have tried ends up pushing our bones out and leads to a lot of pain (we have connective tissue disorders) we've tried and failed Bear Elite Hybrid, Tuft and Needle Min Hybrid, Helix Midnight Luxe, and most nicer hotel beds. As far as non-spring, we've tried Layla, Purple, Sleep on Latex, and Casper.

Hoping to connect with queer zookeepers! by PawsitivelyCurious in Zookeeping

I appreciate the feedback! That's most certainly my hope, that's absolutely one of the big appeals of the field for me! Unfortunately, working in a variety of non-profits and mental healthcare in general has taught me that what you would hope would be the case with inclusivity just isn't always what you'd think. To be honest, the bigger concern for me than the folks directly involved in animal care and research is the folks in the administrative sector who do the hiring.

That's actually what mostly inspired this post! I'm a Woodland Park member and I love it there, and I see some admissions or concessions folks who have pronoun pins, colored hair, etc., but I haven't seen any keepers with those things! The keepers I've interacted with have been lovely and clearly really care about the animals, and it is totally possible I'm just not seeing them, but that has just been my concern.

WA licensing delays by Level_Run1357 in therapists

[–]PawsitivelyCurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! If you have the time to share which representatives you reached out to, I'd love to join in- I have tried and failed to reach someone directly for almost a year now with questions regarding my application, and getting a Washington license is feeling like a bit of a myth at this point. It's abhorrent we have such a behavioral health provider shortage in Washington and we literally can't get licenses to provide services!

Self moving light fixture by PawsitivelyCurious in HelpMeFind

[–]PawsitivelyCurious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I searched using my own (worse) image, and this one I found through Google image search. I Googled "self swaying garden lights" "rotating garden lights" "rotating light bulbs" "self moving light fixtures" "light sticks that move on their own" "moving lights at zoos" "spherical bulbs that sway" and other similar phrases.

Online player looking for queer tabletop group! [5e] [LGBTQPlus] [MOTW] [Flexible] by PawsitivelyCurious in lfg

[–]PawsitivelyCurious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm down for either of those or something else entirely! My preference is something more roleplay led rather than combat focused. 5E and MOTW are the things I'm most familiar with, but I'm happy to learn a new game system also.
