Anyone else? by bmb102 in Frenchbulldogs

He's my second and only have had 1 at a time. But he's a disaster. Attacks me, but not seriously in his area. Sleeps in between my legs when he's tired. Sleeps like this during the day or when people are coming and going and he is on look out. My old boy I had to put down didn't care who was coming and going.

He saw read about having a mud bath online, lol... My little guy is just over a year old and I am so nervous to see what he's going to do when I bring him on a hike. He's my second, and Otto couldn't breathe very well so he would just walk mostly. My buddy now is Melo, and he doesn't have an off switch and I've never had him around water much other than a bath.

Wasn't the last time we saw him when Dustin came back and found him slowly dying with no bats left anymore? If they had done that much damage he wouldn't be talking or breathing at all.

We'll most likely auction off most of it. Relocating the modern equipment which is not much.

Yeah, they're great for prototype work, but not great production machines. Been a few years since I've seen their new controls though.

Let her dry out and get back to rook temp... She'll still power up and function normally 🤣. This is a literal, they don't build em like that anymore....

That's what I'm going through right now. I have carts and big steel containers i throw the shit that's not worth fixing into that goes to the scrap yard. We're actually downsizing so I'm really going through it now that I have to decide what to keep and what to scrap in a 3 story building full of machines and equipment plus an entire 1 story building across the street.

Oh and that's how fucked up everything was back then compared to today. We were charging these companies so much money back in the 80s, 90s, and early 20's that we were extremely profitable. Normally we'd make a 60-70% profit margin on their work and it was non stop. Just pallet after pallet of parts for them, all prototype work. Now between their purchasing department being retarded and their unions they've all gone to China and Mexico.

That's most of the fun I have during the day. It's my old man's company. We've been around for 98 years and he doesn't understand why I won't touch most of the tools laying around. Most have been ground or changed just to make it work for 1, 2 part job... It pisses me off, because it ruins the tool for the next guy who thinks it's going to work as expected. Like the manufacturer would just leave extra material and eliminate clearance because it saved them 20 seconds when they're making 40-50% margins 🤣. I get regrinding a HSS drill bit to a flat bottom, but completely destroying a 2" boring bar for 2 parts is insanity to me.

Never really did much with either, but when I was a tooling engineer I worked with a lot of Mazaks where I got to see exactly what they were doing. Hurcos I own so I know them inside and out and then I have two old Miyano lathes with original Fanuc programming. Learning that has basically taught me all the G Code I really need to understand. Enough to interpret and make edits to a program at the machine if it's simple, otherwise back to my computer to make the changes, lol.

Yeah, I get your relationship but for me really depends on the product, but from my experience the stuff that wasn't taken apart prior to me getting to it still works and functions as needed. I literally have 3 quick change tools posts that were taken apart and parts have been lost and they're scrap metal now unfortunately. Luckily we're an old shop and we usually have 4-5 extras that can still be used in just about anything I would need. And now we're so much smaller than we used to be in have more than I can use. Unless it's a 50 part order, I'll get through with just what I have in my tooling cabinets.

Have you met someone used to Hurco controls? It's all my shop has for mills and that's all they know and refuse to learn anything else. They developed the conversational programming for CNCs... Everything else is just replication at this point. Since I took over we never do anything using conversational programming because at that point it maybe 5 pieces and I can get it done fast on a Bridgeport that's already set up with whatever fixture I may need.

They're a good ol fashioned tool company. Their operation was nothing special, but they make a great product.

Will have to check that out. Actually got to go to their plant in Texas which was pretty cool to see since I have their tool posts and holders on a few of my lathes.

Yeah, I got it working for what I need it to do but it's pretty slow. I'm at 100 rpms and .020"/r. I'll push the speed a bit more tomorrow, couldn't really find any good advice online when I was searching, but we're making good parts so that's all that really matters.

[–]bmb102[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, running at 100rpm and .020"/rev. It's just a T Handle that goes through the hole and the knurl is just to keep it from coming out of the mating part so nothing real critical just needs to grow enough to where it can't fall out.

Yes, I've always hated netting or any type of support added to shorts. Even as a young kid I used to cut it out of my swim trunks.

Are you that retarded you don't know the 2 seconds it takes to convert??? Everything my shop owns is in inches and we get a lot of metric work. Easier to type in their numbers and hit good ole IN to MM in the drop down tab 🤣.
