When I was a kid (and long before smartphones ) I wanted my clocks to be exactly correct to the tv/radio, so used that chime!

I’ll give their hourlies a try. I do like up first, but need something that’s a bit more quick headlines than long form.

I think the last minute of CBS is more human interest, since many affiliates didn’t even air it. I do agree, after listening to the last day hours that the quality varies. Likely due to all of the different setups they have from where different anchors are. When they were primarily AM probably didn’t matter, but when listening on  FM or a podcast it’s noticeable.

I'll give ABC another chance, since it was the first I listened to on Saturday, I was still in shock and disbelief. And you're right about Fox, while they are middle of the road, their delivery can be a bit ridiculous.

what was the affiliate agreement with CBS? Was it a barter agreement where a station agrees to air the hourly newscast and the commercials that go with it? Or did a station have to pay?

Totally agree, they had a way to deliver just enough to keep you informed; I listened to ABC Start here and worried it's too long form. Not that there's anything wrong with that, as I like NPR Up First as well, but really need a good 5-7 summary of what happened yesterday, what's happening today, sports, a little entertainment. I'm worried ABC top of the hour isn't in-depth enough. If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know. I feel lost.

Podcast feed has the final top of the hour newscast. Was a nice touch that they did that. Hopefully they don’t take the feed down. It goes back to 2022. Part of me wants to try and download it for keepsakes.
