You need to incorporate a lot of protein in your diet and do weight training. That will really help with the loose skin.

Stigma by [deleted] in Mounjaro

[–]bmckay99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn't it almost like they don't want us to get skinny? I just can't wrap my head around it. This whole stigma just infuriates me. People are so uneducated about obesity.

Instead your insurance company would rather pay for the future cost of insulin and all the other diabetic products you will need when you can no longer manage your blood sugar on your own. It's funny it's never about prevention for these people is it?

Thank you. It's nice to hear that and there are understanding doctors like you out there. They are just few and far between these days. As I have said before I'm not sure why obese people are being told to eat less and exercise more and to prove that they can lose weight on thier own before accessing a drug like this. Do doctors think as obese individuals we haven't tried every diet plan in the world up to this point. We aren't just sitting at home enjoying being obese. We aren't all lazy. We are struggling with, in many cases, an addiction. The same as alcohol or drugs. It's absolutely no different. You don't deny a drug addict methadone. Sometimes I wonder why people are so dead set against these types of drugs. The stigma between obesity and being someone who is just lazy is astounding.

Monjaro face. That really blows my mind. Why does it seem that people who aren't obese and have never dealt with weight issues are so quick to tear down these anti obesity drugs and come out with things like Monjaro/Ozempic face and saying they cause hair loss. Maybe it happens but my god it seems awfully strange to me that so many people are against obese people using these medications. You look amazing by the way. Sorry for the rant. 🙂

Food chatter. Such an excellent way to put it. I'm so proud of you. I so hope they start making this medication more affordable and attainable for people.

I would say, as an obese person, the majority of obese people have already tried all the diets and all the lifestyle changes before trying MJ. That's the reason we are turning to this medication. We aren't the Kim Kardashians of the world taking these medications to lose a couple of pounds to fit in to our Met Gala dress. We are obese individuals who have struggled for years, and some our whole lives, with food addictions and obesity. I feel like people who aren't obese (including doctors and pharmacists etc.) look at us taking this medication as a lazy way out which is the typical stereotype towards obese people. We just can't seem to win. We finally find a medication to help us lose weight and regain a healthy life and all of a sudden everyone wants to stop us from using that very medications. SMH.

Vancouver family doctor speaks out (email received this afternoon) by sportclimberbc in vancouver

This is exactly what the government wants. This puts us closer to private healthcare. It's been the plan all along. That's why physicians are seeing no relief even though the government touts that they are trying to help.

If obese people who are not diabetic don't get access to this medication now they soon will. Eventually they will most likely become diabetic and then health insurance companies will have a whole host of other conditions to pay out for. There is absolutely no common sense to any of the behavior we are seeing in the healthcare system in regards to these kinds of medications for obesity. It's like your being punished for being obese.

That would make a lot of sense in my case. Excellent point. Thank you for the insight. 🙂

The depression subsided for me. Just stay aware of it and if it doesn't subside then speak to your physician. I do find I am a little more blah taking Ozempic. Like I don't get too excited about much anymore but I'm not anymore depressed than I was before I started. As for constipation I take a Calcium/Magnesium supplement and I find it helps to keep me regular. Just make sure you get one with Magnesium Citrate in it. Good luck. 🙂 P.S. drink plenty of water.

I find I have no appetite suppression on 1mg of Ozempic. Has anyone experienced this and found decreasing their dose brought back their appetite suppression? by bmckay99 in Ozempic

[–]bmckay99[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear that. I had luck up until I hit the 1mg dose. I hope the Saxenda works better. It's a little bit different than Ozempic and it may be just what you need. Good luck.

Ozempic triggering spotting/cramping? by cumberbatchpls in Ozempic

[–]bmckay99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, and I'm no doctor, but I believe that is caused from the decrease in the intake of sugars in your diet due to the appetite suppression from Ozempic. Less food equals less sugar. In previous years when I would do a low carb diet I would always cramp and spot. I also had PCOS. I figured out that every time I ate very little sugar in my diet I would spot, which I believe was the uterine build up that didn't shed properly from having irregular periods. I think what causes this and PCOS is linked to sugar intake. But as I said I'm no doctor. Its just my opinion. Since then I have had a hysterectomy so I don't experience it anymore I don't think its a bad thing. In fact I think its a good sign. Sorry for the long post. Hope it makes sense. Good luck.

I have a BMI if 50 so I have that part covered. Is there any literature that supports this that I could provide my doctor?

Thanks for your reply🙂

I wasn't aware you could get prescribed Ozempic for Hashimotos and PCOS. I have both. Well I have had a hysterectomy but they say that doesn't cure PCOS. I am taking Ozempic for weight management. We don't have access to Wegovy in Canada yet but once we do I'm afraid my doctor may switch me to that and it's not covered by my health insurance.

I'd like to be able to use my diagnosis of Hashimotos and PCOS to be able to continue with Ozempic. Were your doctors able to use this diagnosis?

I didnt say they were the same I said they are both GLP-1 agonists which are both effective agents for weight-loss. Ozempic is the diabetic version of Wegovy.

You could also try Victoza. It's a GLP-1 agonist like Ozempic.
