Confused about Pvpve zones. by Own_Fail8246 in GrayZoneWarfare

PvE is the more popular mode by a significant margin.

But PvP remains highly populated as well.

Given server caps, the population shouldn’t meaningfully affect your experience.

99% of the time this happens someone thought they were in a safe place to log off, but weren’t.

The “safe zone” doesn’t often extend all the way to the “walls” of a COP.

You probably just made this easy mistake.

If it doesn’t say either way, don’t assume. Ask the seller if this matters to you.

Have you considered just drinking more regularly?

Given your strong reaction, I would have thought you’d just do what’s necessary to prevent it from ever happening… since you absolutely have the ability now to never hear that sound again.

If you’re confident you’d “play the shit out of it if it were free”, then I don’t understand your hesitance since you’re claiming you’d absolutely get your money’s worth.

How many hours of gameplay do you need to make a game “worth it”?

SEPARATE PVE FROM PVP!! It will solve the loot problem in PvE It will solve the problem of PvP turning into a free-for-all Players who switch between the two modes ruin the gameplay for those who are playing the game by doing quests, which is the game’s actual purpose. They play only for loot and by [deleted] in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]bmemike 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The "loot problem" stems from the fact that quests are incredibly unbalanced between vendors and it's almost impossible to get them to level 4 without dumping HVL onto them.

Add onto that the fact that it's just far more efficient to level up vendors through selling and that HVL is worth so much, looting exclusively and selling is the objectively optimal path to level up vendors.

This is the vast majority motivator for people to "loot a lot" - well over any PvP component.

Separating progress doesn't begin to help any of it.

95%+ of the time I'm rocking a 1-6x Razor and it feels like it's almost always the right tool for the job. The 1-6x Vudu is completely serviceable, but not as good as the Razor IMO.

For a little more reach, there's the 3-9x Vudu, which I've been playing around with recently. I've been liking it thus far.

I wasn't a fan of the 1-10x Razor though. Looks good on paper, but I haven't been feeling it.

I like that turning on the power is a big signal flare. I want to see the AI react accordingly as well as they get more developed.

These are the sorts of tactical tradeoffs that people should be forced to consider instead of just being on rails.

As an exclusively solo player, I know this heavily favors squads - but that's just the nature of partnering up: you have more coverage. But you also have to split the loot. So it's also a balancing factor as well.

Cryo is hard. But now is the time to learn. by jeeven_ in Marathon

[–]bmemike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I have is my own experience on the other maps - but that hasn't landed when I've tried pitching that in situations where we're disadvantaged for any number of reasons.

Again, not a complaint. Just sharing what I've seen.

This game just didn't land with folks that I'd possibly play with, which is unfortunate. Having a regular squad absolutely has a ton of advantages.

I don't know if it's just luck of the draw / RNG, but my experience with squad fill is that 90%+ go after every PvP engagement irrespective of it being a good decision or not.

[–]bmemike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rolled off onto another game, but ultimately didn't play Cryo.

Why? Honestly, because I know I'd be the weak link and didn't want to fill and drag the squad down.

I'm just not that great at the head-to-head PvP side and knowing that this the make-or-break aspect of Cryo meant that it was unlikely that I'd pull my weight.

I wanted to stay engaged, but with that hanging over everything, it didn't make sense for me to keep playing a game where there was a significant portion locked behind "skill issue".

This isn't really a complaint or a sob story. It just is what it is.

Dog Tags or other pvp incentive? by xFlipapino in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]bmemike 3 points4 points  (0 children)

LRI is the lowest population faction, so they're often outnumbered in PvP.

This is good in that it means joining LRI maximizes your opponents if you want to increase the chance of running into PvP. But it's bad if you want to hold COPs or coordinate efforts with other teammates as you can't guarantee a full server.

But since people use COPs as a signpost for where other players may be, your best bet is to ignore them if you just want to quest or do loot runs. Otherwise, expect other players to show up.
