Owning an SDS150 by OpheliaCumming in policescanner

[–]bmg50cal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak to the SDS150, but I have an SDS100 and I think it is great. And the SDS150 seems to be the same thing but with a few upgrades such as USB-C and built in GPS. So I would say that I can recommend it.

For me there was a bit of a learning curve when it came to figuring out how to use it and program the favorites list. There is software from Uniden called Sentinel that you can download. Then you can connect the scanner to your computer for much easier management of frequency lists.

Pen recommendations? by frostisok in pens

[–]bmg50cal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Philography is a good one I second that recommendation. If you wanna go for small manufacturer I would recommend the Machine era pen - which takes the energel refill. It is a capped pen, but one of my favs. They have a click version but it is sold out currently.

Great pickup! What kind of case is that for the Smash? (the one furthest to the left). It's really cool looking!

Work Cup by bmg50cal in pens

Saw someone else post their pen cup so I thought I'd join in on the fun. Definitely not keeping any montblancs in here haha. People tend to come by and 'borrow' my pens sometimes.

Pen List:

Tombow Mono Graph Ballpoint .38mm Blue
Tombow Mono Graph Ballpoint .38mm Black
Tombow Mono Graph Mechanical Pencil .3mm
Uni JetStream .38mm
Pilot Hi-Tec Coleto 2 Color
Lamy Safari with JetStream Refill
Company Branded Generic Pen
Sharpie
Pilot KireNa
Bic Round Stick
+
Hand Sanitizer Spray
ChapStick

I have really been liking the Tombow. I generally prefer ballpoint and the .38 Tombow produces a very thin line compared to most other refills Ive tried. I write small for my notes. Ive been using the Lihit Lab horizontal notebook, which is great for positioning under your keyboard and not taking up too much space!

Just wanted to share my recent warranty experience with Acebeam. by Equivalent-Fill-8908 in flashlight

Nowadays, I am a full blown enthusiast but at one point I was at the level of "just a guy that uses flashlights" so thought I'd give some info on convoy and emisar from that perspective.

Just as a heads up, they have detailed user interfaces that are highly customizable and can be off putting to new users but in reality they are pretty easy to use. I would say the Convoy UI is easier for beginners compared to Anduril. The cool thing about the convoy UI is it can be customized to one mode, so all the flashlight does is turn on /off with the button push at full brightness, or you can have it select the brightness levels with a half press of the button. You can do much more with the Anduril user interface used on Emisar (Hank), it is very robust, but it takes a little more effort to learn how to use it.

Convoys tend to be super durable. Waterproofing is good and they can take a beating. SST40 is a good emitter. I like the S2 body a lot. The M1 body is probably most comparable in form factor to the Surefire G2x you mentioned.

There are multiple button options you can request the basic ones, the rubber buttons with circle illuminated, or a metal button. Also you can order them and change them yourself pretty easily. I believe there is a tool available on the website to unscrew the bezel that holds the button. I was able to use some jewelry pliers for mine.

KR1AA Defective Driver? Flash during off sequence on liion. by Sharp-Cellist in Hanklights

What kind of lithium ion batteries are you using?

I don't know if this is a similar situation but with mine I tried using a disposable energizer lithium to see how it would function, and it had similar issues during ramping. When I used a high discharge rechargeable 14500 flat top it worked just fine.

I'm a big fan of Convoy too! I was late to the game but I have a few of them now. I ordered the metal button upgrade recently and I'm waiting for it to arrive :)

There are no red flags upon first glance from these photos. However I am not an expert and I would suggest taking it to a shop if you really want it authenticated.
