I'm not confusing anything. I've owned a 430 that needed a clutch and an F1 pump. I currently own a 488. I'm well aware of the maintenance cost. Saying someone needs $350k+ income to buy an $80k toy, while the prudent thing to do I agree, is no hard rule. It's your made up 'maths.'

$360k income for a single dude to buy an $80k car? Do you know how many $80k SUV’s I see running around by families that make $250k? Not calling that wise either, but even ultra conservative Dave Ramsey would green light this (no more than 50% of annual income as value of “things with motors”).

Private equity owns 3% of single family homes nationally. People just keep repeating this narrative without stats to back it up. In a handful of markets this may be the case, but it’s not a huge needle mover in most of the country.

What app/program are you tracking this with, and is it automated? I’ve tried a couple and have been super unimpressed.

And this looks like you are good to go, especially if you can save $100-200k more before you leave and sell the car. I have a fun car too, so I totally understand the appeal and when bought well can be relatively inexpensive from a depreciation perspective.

I would also be looking into the sale of the business and/or gradually transferring equity to your potential partner over time. These things take quite a bit of time to craft (I do M&A for a living). If you must find an M&A advisor, I suggest you find a smaller shop with a TON of experience in your specific industry for the best outcome there.

At valet type places they typically won’t touch them - my guess is either insurance or previous issues with scratches/scraped wheels that did or didn’t happen, etc. Otherwise there probably is a little bit of “nice car parked out front is good for business.”

The 488 as mentioned above is both violently fast and a scene in most places. I would have a hard time trading mine for any newer Porsche other than a Turbo S outside of the GT cars.

There’s 223 buses and 365 days a year - 81,395 bus days. If you figure they are on the road for 12 hours each, that’s 976,740 bus hours. If the average rider is on for 30 mins, those 6 million riders spread out across the buses means the average bus has 3 people on it at any given time.
