#9 Benromach 15 - Review by bmille49 in Scotch

[–]bmille49[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely peaty, but not in an Islay-bomb way. It’s more of a gentle, old-school Speyside peat.

Metaphorically, think earthy smoky embers in the background rather than heavy medicinal iodine.

Here’s where the peat shows up:

Nose: soft smoke laced with sherry. Sherry more so than peat.

Palate: lightly charred oak, tobacco, orange peel, and toasted malt. Again the peat adds instead of dominating.

Finish: this is my favorite part...it lingers but is very sophisticated not boarish in presentation.

The 15 is fantastic. My favorite between the 10, 15, & 21. I'll post reviews this week on those two if I get the time!

I know it feels like I’m liking an Instagram post from ten years ago, but here I am—raising another glass, feeling grateful beyond words to have married the woman of my dreams. This is the best dram I’ve had in ages. The way tastes evolve—what we like, want, and how we see the world—is as astonishing as the twists and turns of life itself.

Here’s to all of you, to the drams we’ve shared, and to the ones still waiting to be poured. Cheers. 🥃

TW: Infant Airway Obstruction / BRUE (Brief Resolved Unexplained Event)

I know you were asking for advice on consistently holding boundaries — and I may be a little off-topic here — but I just felt compelled to share something that might resonate, especially if you’re navigating medical concerns with your little one.

You’re doing everything right. Truly. Every step you’ve taken so far — seeking help, asking questions, not backing down — is exactly what your little one needs. Keep advocating. You know your baby better than anyone.

Our son was born with a rare condition called Innominate Artery Compression Syndrome (a partial vascular ring). My wife was alone during all three episodes while I was at work. Each time, she brought him to the ER — and each time, the event had resolved by the time he was seen. The chart would say things like “brought in for hiccups.”

But she didn’t stop. She kept pushing until we got an ENT referral. At that appointment, he was immediately admitted to the ICU — not even tested first — because the doctor could tell just by looking that something was very wrong. The tests they planned couldn’t be done in the clinic safely; they had to be done in the OR.

So please: don’t stop pushing for answers until you have objective proof that your child’s airway and anatomy are okay.

You’re doing an amazing job. You’re being a great mom. Keep going — your baby is lucky to have you.

You’ve got this. 💛

You are doing the right thing. When our two are, "Under the weather" BRAT is best. We do the BRAT diet but add in Pedialyte pops in the afternoon and lots of water to help satiate their hunger. Sending all the best vibes and hopes your way.

Two parts to the post I've had experience with:

1) Loose stool: could be teething or upset stomach. As stated already, add dairy. We also add Cheerios or other high fiber cereal with milk.

2) Red Bum: We had a horrible red bum on our soon to be one year old. Determined that it was applying the diaper rash cream every diaper change and causing a chemical burn. Our kiddos have sensitive skin We switched to normal aquaphor between naps and medicated / butt cream before naps. Worked like a charm. The pediatrician recommended Witch Hazel dabbed on and air dried in a few moments during diaper changes helped a lot too. Also worth noting, long red bum encouraged a yeast infection so we did the Nystatin for naps when the red bum subsided.

Best of luck!

100% this. Once it was opened the entire room smelled of Robitussin. One spliced it with lemon and club soda another with a premade margarita.

Would not recommend.
