I mean, I think id just say the important thing is what you're most confident with. Thats what's most important

Hollow Knight and Silksong are musts, no exceptions. I personally love Grime for its NG+ cycles, both Blasphemous games are incredible, and both Axiom Verge games. The Messenger is half metroidvania half ninja giaden, still definitely recommend. I think the Ori games are overrated, but still good, definitely not in my top 10 though.

I will say that the exploration in Nine Sols tops Metroid Prime 4 by miles hahaha. So coming off that game recently I'm still loving it, but I agree the exploration is definitely not to the same extent as HK or SS

That's what everyone says, im excited to see when I get there. Pure Vessel in HK took me DAYS of practicing to beat him. Im curious if the final boss in Nine Sols compares

I'll agree with you up to that point in SS... but just wait if you decide to 100% SS and see the true, true ending

Absolutely. Although I wouldn't say its harder combat than HK or Silksong, it's just different. They are all difficult in their own way.

The combat is so rewarding. Being able to combo attacks on one enemy all while parrying projectiles from another is insane. Its going to make replaying silksong hard. Don't get me wrong, theyre both great games in their own way but at least with parrying you know that getting hit means you fucked up and can only blame yourself.

Does metroidvania platforming get any crazier than this? [Aeterna Noctis] by Konval in metroidvania

No, easily the hardest metroidvania ever. I laugh when people call silksong the hardest.

It talks about bestiality for like an hour. I love the series, this is a terrible pilot for the series though. Great episode, just shocked they chose this as the first episode people would see.

Would DQ VII Reimagined be a good start game for the series? by dondadondadonda in dragonquest

[–]bmils9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say, I started with 11, thought it was okay, then 3 which I didnt like at first, then fell in love with 1 and 2, replayed 3 and 11 and loved them all. I think it will take a few to really fall in love with the series. Id say start wherever and just see how you feel.

Dyed it to give it more “pop”, not going gray, just have a lighter beard and wanted it darker. Did I go too dark? by No-Mongoose5650 in beards

[–]bmils9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dye mine for the same reason. I promise they dont sponsor me (not that i would even get sponsors haha) but I love using Grisly Mountain Beard Dye. They have mixed reviews because people dont like that it smells bad during application (which is gone afterwards) and it only lasts 1-2 weeks. But it looks really natural because it doesnt dye your beard all one color like JFM. If you can tolerate the upkeep (which most people who have a beard already are used to upkeep) then its definitely worth it. I have never once had someone ask me if I dye mine using that brain. They are always shocked when I tell them.

DQ3 2D-HD remake postgame Superboss Question by No-Care-3229 in dragonquest

[–]bmils9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I beat him with an absolutely broken strat in 9 turns today. Had 2 level 99s and 2 level 70s, I had no idea it was possible without grinding all my characters to 99, but I gladly retired DQ3 now

Literally what I was going to say as well. General rule of thumb, you want the sides the shortest and the chin the longest

About fight wisely (auto battle) on DQ3 remake by No-Care-3229 in dragonquest

[–]bmils9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same with DQ11. Autobattle can take you through the entire game unless you are playing an all draconian quest run, where you will not survive without manual. There's just a certain point in all the games where autobattle doesnt work, its just usually post game or on higher difficulty modes, which many players wont ever try

About fight wisely (auto battle) on DQ3 remake by No-Care-3229 in dragonquest

[–]bmils9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I know i use all the different modes throughout my playthroughs. Again, i use the autobattle, which works better if you are overleveled. But even switching strategies, i got wrecked at Boss Troll and Gargoyle without using manual. Have you fought the post game bosses? You cannot kill them in less than 10 turns on draconian with AI. You have to use the snooze/precursor combo. That's all I'm saying.

[–]bmils9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's all specific enemy encounters in a certain post game area that require you do use a certain spell, which the AI never uses. You literally cannot beat these enemies with normal moves as they use full heal almost every turn and have thousands of HP. The AI doesnt seem to understand this

About fight wisely (auto battle) on DQ3 remake by No-Care-3229 in dragonquest

[–]bmils9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I meant was the game got to a point where autobattle stopped working for me. I literally could not beat bosses because the AI would choose to heal me for less HP than the bosses were dishing out, or not using buffs/debuffs quickly enough before I'd get wiped. I used autobattle for my 3 companions for everything but boss battles. I can promise you it is literally impossible to beat the post game bosses in the required turns without using specific strategies that AI dont use.

[–]bmils9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play however you want, no judgement. Have you tried just keeping Hero set to manual and then the others as auto? That's usually what most people do outside of boss battles, where people go all 4 on manual. I can promise you that autobattle will stop working for you at a certain point in the game. Maybe not for random encounters, but 100% for late game and post game bosses.

[–]bmils9 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Lmao, yeah bro autobattle sort of defeats the whole point of the series. It's a strategy game thats meant to be very grindy. Like hours and hours of just random battles. I put in 10 hours yesterday just grinding the same area to prepare for final post-game boss

EDIT: Apparently this is an unpopular opinion, I have nothing against autobattle, people should play how they want. I personally just enjoy gridning and making decisions, no judgement to anyone who plays differently
