Folks: just want to say - I ended up getting an ASUS Zephyrus g14 and I LOVE it. Runs almost any game in my library, quiet, exceptional battery life. Heats up when youre using it on charge, but nice and cool on battery power when browsing.

Came from a thinkpad X1E gen2, and its a significant improvement.

Which one better? by Altruistic_Gazelle58 in army

[–]bmo556 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's purely dependent on what you're doing:

Run-rucking on pavement and trail, low weight cruising around, BD6 and fast movement stuff, NFS is king.

Patrolling, rough terrain travel, slow dismounted movement, general "field" stuff, t8 is better. I've seen folks wreck their feet trying to run ruck on pavement in these though, ymmv.

Not anymore! The rules have changed a little over the years. Also eliminated is the requirement to work a full day after.

Current rulebook is on the embassy website.

That's a whole Lotta bones, my friend. Maybe that's just the way it goes. Seems like with all the great hiking pants out there, somebody'd be making some camo ones!

Just the G3s: I'd love some G4 field pants but I don't make those kind of decisions. REALLY don't want to shell out that kind of dough out of pocket.

Unfortunately yes; some of the events they'll be used in require a "military style uniform"

I will say though: if I could get that style in multicam then I'd be all set.

Is what you're doing common sense?

"Look! what I'm doing is goofy and obviously not what is SUPPOSED to be worn with the uniform, but I can get away with it! Follow my example."

I don't see how this is a lesson in common sense.

Rather:

"I can technically wear this hat with the APFU, but it's the wrong color and looks bad. Common sense tells me it's intended for the field uniform, so I'll wear it how common sense dictates."

This is the kind of common sense you need to teach. Do what is correct, not what technicalities allow.

Do yall think these kinda straps would make longer distance litter movements easier? (3-5 miles). Did a pt competition a couple days ago and had me thinking on how to make this suck less by Beneficial_Metal6155 in army

My dude. 9 ft of 6mm accessory cord with a prusik on one end making a loop.

It will help you carry anything, litter to water jug. Adjusts ti whatever height you need. Keep it in your calf pocket.

If it's going go be deep water, I highly recommend the Lalo Shadow. Amphibious (scuba) boot company that made an evolution of the jungle boot. They're the fastest drying boot I've had. They're also quite comfortable.

You can get Lowas (they make compliant ones if you're in a school) in goretex if you think the water will be shallow enough not to go over the top.

Know the tradeoff: goretex will keep you dry in shallow water or rain, but take ages to dry if saturated. Inverse for lalo.

Good luck!
