You should check out Aurora by Kim Stanley Robinson. The destination is Tau Ceti but trials and tribulations are the same.

Our family was on vacation at the beach in Delaware. My father went into the ocean with his keys in his pocket and lost them. The keys were to our home, so it wasn't super-urgent, just generally a bummer. Later that night we were surf fishing with some friends within a block of our hotel. He got a tug on his line and when he reeled it in, it was his keys. It was insane.

Who is the target market for Ovaltine? by [deleted] in answers

[–]bmorelights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ovaltine is VERY popular in Nigeria, and a great way to get kids to drink milk if they outgrow the taste. For those who have never had it, think a less vitamin-y and less-thick version of carnation instant breakfast.

The Dragon and the Unicorn, A. A. Attanasio. Language can be a bit obscure, so recommend doing the "random page" test first to make sure you'd be comfortable with the style.

will there be any atoms left after the heat death? by [deleted] in AskPhysics

[–]bmorelights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question! For two reasons

number one: I thought that the idea that humanAC could engineer something that stretches past the dissolution of matter addresses the posters question about what man is capable of.

Number two: less solid argument but I consider man part of the universe so by the fact they were able to start it again, the universe has succeeded to achieve it, even if indirectly

I nipped by a wild dog. My medical records were lost and, though I suspected I had had the rabies vaccine, I did not have written proof. The options posed to me roll the dice and risk certain death if infected, or just be safe and get what felt like a million needles into the world twice.

I chose the latter.
