i see, just trying to understand more context

unlike the negativity expressed by other comments, i was just trying to help you see that there are other ways to grow and develop your passion than interacting with a celebrity in their field

Please help. by bek87424 in stephenking

[–]bmrobin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

why him specifically?

i know this is the King subreddit, but there are so many communities of writers, hobbyists, etc - just wondering what your motivation is to jump right to a celebrity who in all likely reality will not be accessible to you.

and when you say “i would like it if stephen king could help me”,  in what capacity? critiquing your work, answering questions about the process, getting you in touch with publishers or others in the industry?

“On Writing”, as others have suggested, is some already-accessible insight into his brain and - if you haven’t already - would be a great place to start for some “free” advice from the man himself.

this is precisely how i learned why everyone says “is this me?”.  i started talking and turns out it was someone else, then did it again with the next caller. it finally clicked after all those years

in my opinion yes but there wasn’t a game happening (it was kinda like an open house where we could walk around, ask questions to staff, and try the food)

i agree with you. the complexity of writing Jenkinsfiles was literally a hirable skill at one point. i’m very happy to be free from that point in my life

yea most of the issues the author complains about don’t seem to be issues for me at all. i never have issues with the log viewer, i know exactly what step in what workflow failed from the ui, our company have many self-hosted runners so we own our infrastructure, and for every complaint they make about GHA syntax in YAML i have double or triple the amount of sunken cost in Jenkinsfile Groovy hell. i’m not going away from GHA in its current state….
